About Frecciabianca train Italy

Frecciabianca train Italy is a high-speed train service managed by Trenitalia, which runs on the classic network (outside the high-speed line) at a speed of up to 200 km/h (124 mph). It’s part of the Le Frecce family of trains - including Frecciargento and Frecciarossa - introduced in 2011 as part of Eurostar Italia high-speed trains before rebranding to Le Frecce in 2012. Freccia bianca features three types of train sets (ETR 460, ETR 470, and loco-hauled trains), connecting several cities on the Adriatic Coast and the Rome - Turin/Genoa/Milan/Ravenna routes.

Frecciabianca first class

Frecciabianca first class seating have two carriages with power sockets, reclining tables, comfortable leather armchairs, reclining tables, a choice of newspapers, reading lights, and enough legroom and luggage space. Upon boarding, you’ll be offered a complimentary hot or cold drink.

Frecciabianca Tickets and seating plan

You can choose from three types of Frecciabianca tickets: Super Economy, Economy, and Base. The Frecciabianca Super Economy fare is the cheapest though non-refundable and cannot be changed. With the Economy Ticket, you can change your travel date or time once before departure, but you’ll be required to trade it with a matching Base ticket and pay the remaining difference. The Base Ticket is the most expensive option, which you can modify as many times as you want without incurring additional costs.

The Frecciabianca seating plan varies depending on the class of service and train type. The 1st Class train seating plan features adjustable seats in three rows (2 by 1 configuration), while the 2nd Class features adjustable seats in four rows (2 by 2 configuration). In both travel classes, you’ll find some seats arranged around a table facing each other. You can select your preferred seating arrangement when booking a ticket.

Frecciabianca Connections

Frecciabianca has three types of trains with trainsets on different routes. The regular engine-hauled trains connect different cities on the Adriatic route, such as Milan to Taranto and Milan to Lecce. The ETR 460 is the other train type connecting Rome to Turin, Milan, Genoa, and Rome to Ravenna, while ETR 470 trains cover the Rome to Reggio Calabria route.

Frecciabianca trains: Services on board

  • You’ll have access to several services and amenities on board Frecciabianca trains, including air-conditioned coaches, power sockets at each seat, coat hooks close to the window, and a nursing table in coach 3 for all passengers. There is a trolley service selling drinks and snacks and FrecciaBistrò bar at the center of the train serving different breakfast and lunch menus.

  • Comfort is the hallmark of Frecciabianca trains, which have comfortable, reclining seats and extra legroom in both travel classes.

  • For onboard entertainment, there are magazines and newspapers at each seat.

Frecciabianca has several numbered trains serving different routes. They include Frecciabianca 9774, which connects Roma Termini - Genova, Frecciabianca 9713, which connects Milan - Venice, Frecciabianca 9723, which connects Torino Porta Nuova - Venice, Frecciabianca 9877, which connects Roma Termini - Reggio, Frecciabianca 8824, which connects Lecce -Torino Porta Nuova, and Frecciabianca 9830, which connects Lecce – Milano Centrale.

Difference between Frecciabianca, Intercity and Frecciarossa trains

Frecciabianca, Intercity, and Frecciarossa are high-speed trains by Italy’s main train provider - Trenitalia. While all of them serve the same purpose, there are some differences in speed, comfort, pricing, and routes. Frecciarossa trains are the fastest at a maximum speed of 190 mph (300 km/h). Frecciabianca trains reach a maximum of 124 mph (200 km/h), while Intercity trains are the slowest at 99 mph (160 km/h).

When it comes to comfort, Frecciarossa trains are the most comfortable, with spacious seats and more amenities, followed by Frecciabianca trains, which have comfortable seats but fewer amenities. Intercity trains are the least comfortable. Frecciarossa and Frecciabianca serve major Italian cities, while Intercity trains operate in small cities and towns. Frecciabianca speed trains and Intercity ones operate on traditional tracks, while Frecciarossa trains run on high-speed lines. In terms of pricing, Frecciarossa is the most expensive, followed by Frecciabianca and Intercity.
