NLG (Navigazione Libera del Golfo) is an Italian ferry provider offering crossings on different routes in the Gulf of Naples, the Pontine Islands, the Tremiti Islands, and the Amalfi Coast. FPresent for over 80 years, NLG has been is managed by the Apontes family, a popular seafaring family that has been in the maritime industry since the 17th century. The NLG fleet comprises 12 modern vessels: 10 Hydrojet hydrofoils, 1 Catamaran, and 1 motor ship.

NLG Ticket types

NLG offers one way and roundtrip tickets for adults and children aged between 2 and 12 years. You’ll be required to pay an additional fee for each pet or piece of luggage. Children up to 2 years enjoy free passage with no seat assignment. Authorized guides are allowed to board for free, and one free ticket is given for every 20 paying guests. Ticket prices for vehicles and passengers include VAT and exclude other port duties and taxes where due. High-speed hydrofoils are quite expensive compared to the slower ones. Check if there are slower optionsones on your route if you want to save some money.

Types of accommodation on board NLG ferries

NLG hydrofoils have private compartments and standard cabins. You can easily choose the level of comfort you prefer during your cruise. You can also take a seat on the upper open-air deck if you want to enjoy the best views or catch a breath. Always check the conditions of your ticket to get the most out of your cruise.

Transporting Vehicles with NLG Ferry

NLG transports all types of passenger vehicles, including campers, cars, motorcycles, and caravans. Rates will vary depending on the length of your vehicle, so make sure you have chosen the right vehicle size (including roof racks, bicycle holders, etc.). The fare groups include Group 1 for vehicles up to 4 meters long and Group 2 for vehicles above 4 meters.

You must declare the transportation of LPG (liquid gas) or methane-powered vehicles when purchasing a ticket. Failure to do so will make you lose the right to board. After boarding the ferry with your vehicle, you must park it with the engine and lights switched off, doors unlocked, windows closed, first gear engaged, handbrakes on, boots locked, and car keys inserted.

You must present a valid ID or passport to travel with NLG. The ID or passport must be presented during check-in.

How does the check in and boarding procedure work on NLG Ferries?

Passengers should first head to the port’s ticket office to collect their boarding passes to present at the check-in point. You’ll not be allowed to check in with an e-ticket. Passengers with vehicles should also present a valid ticket at the boarding point. All passengers must present identification documents at the check in point.

How long before boarding do I have to show up?

You must arrive 20 minutes before the scheduled departure time and at least 30 minutes ahead of time if you are bringing your vehicle.

Can I bring pets with me on NLG ferries?

Pets are allowed on NLG ferries at a fee. However, they are not allowed in the passenger lounges, except for guide dogs for the blind.
