How to plan a journey with our Journey Planner

Using the Omio Journey Planner makes planning a trip super simple, take a look at the steps below to become a Journey Planner pro.

Step 1:

Enter your departure location, arrival destination, and your travel dates then hit search.



Step 2:

View train, bus and flight options, and find the best one for you. Click on the icon to filter for that transport type.



Step 3:

Once you’ve picked your transport type, you can filter by price, departure time and duration.



Step 4:

If you’ve found a journey you want to use, click on it and you’ll go to the ‘buy tickets’ page (if you want to, of course).



Using the Journey Planner for trains

With the Omio Journey Planner, you can research trains in the United Kingdom and Europe. Great for searching for train tickets in the UK, our Journey Planner really comes into its own for train journeys in Europe, especially as it translates much-needed information into English.

To use the Journey Planner app for trains, just enter your departure location, arrival information, and travel dates. If you’re traveling within the UK and have a travel card, you can add it here and the discount will show up in the Omio app’s Journey Planner.

In the Journey Planner, just click on the train icon and all the trains available for that route will appear. From here, you can filter by departure time, the cheapest price and the fastest time. To look for a different day, just change the departure date in the search bar, click search and the Journey Planner will update.

If you want to buy train tickets, just click on the train you want to book and our Journey Planner will take you to our payments page.

How to use the bus Journey Planner

The Omio Journey Planner works in the same way for buses as it does for trains, flights, and ferries. Simply pop in where you’re leaving from, where you're going to and your travel dates. Once our Journey Planner has found all the results, just click on the bus icon at the top of the page. It will then filter for only bus options for your journey. From here, you can buy bus tickets from the Journey Planner, if you so wish.

Will the Journey Planner work for TFL services?

Our Journey Planner only works for cross-country travel and not intercity public transport, meaning you can’t use it to search for Transport for London (TFL) services in London.

However, you can use the Journey Planner to search and book train routes to and from London.
