Overview of Trenitalia
Trenitalia is Italy's national state-owned rail company and the principal train operator in the country. Established in 2000, it plays a vital role in connecting major cities and regions across Italy, and is recognized for its commitment to developing modern, efficient, and comfortable rail travel.
Trenitalia operates a comprehensive fleet of trains, most notably its high-speed "Frecce" (Arrows) services including Frecciarossa, Frecciargento, and Frecciabianca, which connect Italy's main urban centers. The company also provides Intercity and regional (Regionale) trains, ensuring extensive coverage for both long-distance and local journeys.
Beyond Italy's borders, Trenitalia offers international routes, including Eurocity services to Switzerland and Germany (Frankfurt and Munich), Euronight trains to Austria and Germany, and high-speed connections to France in cooperation with SNCF, linking cities such as Milan with Paris.
