I can't complain about this train journey from Cologne to Mannheim, except that the tickets were very expensive. It was not overcrowded. It was very clean and the train was on time. This train ride was really good and I could use the time to study.

IconQuick
IconComfort
Disadvantages
IconRisky if it fails
IconNice seats
IconClean WCS
The ride itself is very pleasant, there are several stops, but they go quickly. It is a very beautiful route, visually and also historically. There are many services on the train, including food and drink in every imaginable way, and many variations. The staff are also very friendly and helpful. The journey went by very quickly for me.
Advantages
IconCleanliness
IconPunctuality
IconBistro
Disadvantages
Iconno wifi
The train journey from Cologne to Mannheim with the EC 7 was quite relaxed. It only took about 2.5 hours. The train was sparkling clean and the coffee from the on-board bistro sweetened the trip even more. Unfortunately, there was no wifi on board. This could be improved. Otherwise, the train was on time, so I was able to catch my connecting train.
Advantages
IconFavourable price
IconDirect ride
IconExpress train ICE
Disadvantages
IconFavourable price only through other supplier
Price-performance ratio was impeccable. Train was cleaned as always and service was ongoing with coffee and co on the way. Train was on time in Mannheim, which is an achievement, as I noticed, as there are often delays. However, the ICE trains are generally to be recommended. They are very modern, have great comfort and wifi and power sockets are standard. I recommend such journeys more in the off-season, however, as everything is always packed during the summer, especially with the €9 and €49 tickets, so many people don't even save on the express train fares or use them without a ticket.
Advantages
IconShort travel time
IconFriendly staff
Disadvantages
IconLack of cleanliness
The train journey with the EC 7 from Cologne to Mannheim was mixed. Positive was the comparatively short journey time and the timely departure. The seats were comfortable and the carriages looked well maintained. However, there were some disappointments. The cleanliness of the train leaves much to be desired, which was particularly noticeable in the toilets. The train staff were friendly, but communication about delays and connecting trains was inadequate.
Advantages
IconOn time
IconService
IconComfort
Disadvantages
IconDirty toilets
I travelled from Cologne to Mannheim with the EC 7. The journey was in second class and without seat reservations. However, there were plenty of free seats. To stay on topic, the seats were extremely ergonomic and very comfortable. The train was in a clean and well-maintained condition, but this did not apply to the toilets. These could have been cleaner. Otherwise, the service was good and the staff friendly. There were no delays for the entire duration of the journey.
Advantages
IconPunctuality
IconComfortable seats
IconFriendly staff
Disadvantages
IconUnstable wifi
IconNot quite clean
The train journey with the EC7 from Cologne to Mannheim was mostly positive. Punctuality was impressive and the train started and reached the destination station with almost no delays. The modern seats were comfortable and offered enough space. The panoramic windows provided a beautiful view of the passing landscape. The cleanliness on the train left something to be desired, which reduced the comfort. The on-board catering was limited and the quality was not outstanding. Wifi connection was unstable and slow. The train staff were polite.
Advantages
IconNo change of trains and no delays
IconStaff was friendly
IconVery clean train and good smell in the toilets
IconSeats comfortable with good equipment
Disadvantages
IconBoard bistro was closed
From Cologne to Mannheim, no change had been necessary and it had been a normal volume and a normal occupancy of the train. The service was not good in my opinion, as the on-board bistro had closed. However, the staff had been polite. The seats on the train were very comfortable and there was plenty of legroom when sitting down. There were also power sockets and an internet connection. The train was clean and the toilets smelled very good. It was also good that the train was not delayed.
Advantages
IconVery fast
IconDrives frequently
IconClean
IconOn time
Disadvantages
IconA little expensive
IconWifi unstable
On the route from Cologne to Mannheim, there is an ICE train every hour or sometimes even more frequently, with which you can cover this quite considerable distance in less than 1.5 hours. The train arrived on time and was very clean, both in terms of the seats and aisles as well as the toilets. Understandable, but still annoying, is the somewhat unstable internet connection via wifi on this high-speed route. There is also a one-star deduction for the, in my opinion, somewhat high price.
Advantages
Iconfast
Disadvantages
IconOften overcrowded
The wifi was slow but worked. There was one power outlet for 2 people. The seats were a bit older, but you could sit on them. Reservation was very easy online, just choose your seat and it was displayed on the seat. The toilets were clean. The price-performance ratio is sometimes better, sometimes worse, depending on when you book.
Advantages
IconHygiene
Disadvantages
IconNone
The trip was very nice and relaxing. The sanitary facilities and seating areas here were really well cleaned. I was able to make phone calls on the journey thanks to the excellent reception. In terms of price, the train journey was also very good. Fortunately, the train was on time. The seats were also very comfortable. I recommend the train service and give it a full five stars overall.
