I travelled to Munich for work last August. As I often travel on DB trains and want to make good use of my time, I sat down in the on-board bistro and connected to the wifi. The train was relatively crowded and rather noisy so the bistro was a good choice. The journey on the ICE521 was very quiet and relaxed so far. We departed on time and arrived relatively punctually.

My train journey in second class from Cologne to Munich was a very pleasant experience overall. The ICE was on time, which immediately gave me a good feeling for the start of the journey. The seats were comfortable and despite the longer journey time, I was able to relax and read, listen to music and do a bit of work - thanks to the available power sockets and the mostly stable wifi. I particularly enjoyed the quiet atmosphere in the carriage and the pleasant temperature thanks to the well-set air conditioning. Although the train was full to capacity, this was not a problem with my seat reservation and I had everything I needed for a relaxed journey. The staff were also friendly and helpful, which added to the positive overall impression. For me, it was a stress-free, comfortable journey that I would do again at any time.

Another ICE journey also began pleasantly, as the train staff were friendly and even helped me stow my luggage. The seat was comfortable and offered enough space to work and relax. Unfortunately, the air conditioning was set a little too cold this time, which became uncomfortable in the long run. Nevertheless, the train arrived on time and I give it 4 stars. The price was definitely okay.

The train was slightly delayed on the way back, but it was not too bad. No need to change trains, which was pleasant. The comfort was good again, although a little less quiet than on the outward journey. Wifi had a few brief dropouts. The toilets were still acceptable, although not quite as fresh. Service was friendly, but more in the background. The view was nice, especially in the morning. No on-board bistro, which is a real shame on this route. Despite minor flaws, I was happy not to have to travel by car and the price was quite reasonable because I booked early.

We really wanted to visit the Christmas market in Munich and decided to travel there by train. We got there very quickly. Unfortunately, we hadn't reserved a seat and the train was quite full. Otherwise, the train was very clean, as were the toilet facilities. There was a word bistro on the train and the staff were very nice. The ticket was not too expensive.

To be honest, the journey annoyed me. The train was already late and there was no information about it. Wifi didn't work at all, which was a real minus point for me. The volume in the carriage was unpleasant throughout, especially due to phone calls. Toilets were filthy and smelled bad. The comfort? Hard, cramped, uncomfortable. Compared to the car, this was unfortunately a downgrade in every respect. Only the staff were friendly.

Purpose of the journey: Travelling home from a wedding near Cologne. Alternatives such as FlixBus were not checked. My travelling companion and I are generally convinced by DB for long-distance journeys. Day of journey: 11.05.2025 Departure: 13:51 in Cologne Messe/Deutz (7 min late due to a train travelling ahead) Planned arrival: 18:07 in Munich main station. Actual arrival between 30 and 45 min later (mainly due to traffic jam in front of Frankfurt Hbf). Train and toilets were clean and the latter mostly functional. Wifi was overloaded, power socket worn out. On-board restaurants were available and well-staffed, nice staff. Purchased the ticket with a sample BahnCard 25, as this reduced the total cost (together with other planned journeys). 1 star deduction for long delay. 1 star deduction for unnecessarily expensive tickets.

I was pleasantly surprised at how comfortable the journey was overall. The train was clean and quiet, the seats were comfortable and wifi and charging facilities were available. I found it practical that there was a small bistro on board - a coffee in between never hurts. The connection was perfect for me, I couldn't have got to my destination any quicker or more relaxed. The price and performance were right, especially compared to other options. Unfortunately, the train wasn't particularly quiet, but it was bearable. The toilets were fine, nothing to complain about. And the fact that everything ran on time topped it all off. Friendly staff on top. We'd be happy to do it again.

I was travelling back from a business meeting. The train arrived 10 minutes late, which is still perfectly acceptable. The inside of the train was tidy and clean. However, there were a lot of guests. Nevertheless, I had a table because I had reserved a seat, which meant I could work. I bought snacks and a drink at the small on-board restaurant. The prices were fair and the train finally arrived back in Munich 8 minutes late. The price for the journey was fair for the Deutsche Bahn ICE.

I took the train to visit a friend and was quite satisfied overall. The connection was ideal, no changes and good journey times. The comfort in the carriage was pleasant, with plenty of space and a quiet atmosphere. Unfortunately, there was no on-board bistro, which would have been nice on the longer route. The toilets could also have been cleaner. However, the price-performance ratio was definitely good and I would use the service again.

This was a 1st class journey with 4 people and only cost €183.60, which is incredible and at the wonderful price, I really enjoyed the journey. I was very comfortable and the atmosphere was great. The view from the window was great. The staff were very nice and also tried to make sure all the passengers were comfortable. Cleanliness was a priority, it was very clean so you felt very comfortable on the train. The wifi had full signal, despite many users. There was also power access at the seat. The food was great. I can only really recommend this trip. Great trip, very deserving of the full number of stars.

I recently had the opportunity to travel by train from Cologne to Munich. Overall, the journey was pleasant and comfortable. The train was on time and offered enough space to sit comfortably and enjoy the scenery. The seats were comfortable and the compartment was clean. Unfortunately, the price for the trip was not particularly cheap. Compared to other train trips I have taken, this was one of the most expensive. Nevertheless, the trip was a good experience overall and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable and reliable way to travel from Cologne to Munich. In terms of food, what was on offer on the train was satisfactory but not outstanding. There was a selection of snacks and drinks, but I would have liked a little more choice. Overall, the train journey from Cologne to Munich was pleasant, but the price was not great. Nevertheless, I would do it again and recommend it to others looking for a comfortable and reliable travel option.

Icontasty food
The journey in 1st class was a good experience as everything seemed positive to me. The food looked very tasty, was also very tasty. There were many choices of dishes, some of them healthy and they were cheap. You could get very comfortable as there was a lot of space. There were also lockers where you could lock up valuables. That was a great result, which was very good value. In addition, my train also arrived on time. It is highly recommended, so I recommend the trip.

I travelled in 1st class with 3 people. I liked that there were cabins where you could change. The toilets were also very clean. I particularly liked the food and my dessert too, I had a chocolate pudding for dessert. The wifi was very good. In addition, the staff was very nice and the train also arrived on time. The trip met all my expectations, which is why I recommend it.

The train journey in the ICE was very pleasant and comfortable, but unfortunately not very cheap. The train was on time and the seats were comfortable, but the price of the journey was high compared to other transport options. Nevertheless, travelling by ICE is a fast and efficient way to get from Cologne to Munich. The service on board was friendly and helpful. All in all, it was a great trip, but I would probably consider other options for future trips to save money.

That was a journey in 1st class. I travelled with 3 additional people, so the journey was actually relatively cheap, but it was definitely worth it. The staff were very polite and could speak several languages. I also really liked the service and I especially liked my food. There was a lot of choice when it came to food. Some of the dishes were foreign. The toilets were easy to find. Attention was also paid to hygiene, for example disinfectants. The wifi was also good. I would definitely repeat the trip and can therefore recommend it.
Advantages
Iconvery comfortable
The journey was in 1st class and I travelled with 3 additional people. For a 1st class journey and 4 people, it was actually relatively cheap, at only 173.78€. The food was cheap and very tasty for the price. There was ear protection, which you could borrow if it got too noisy. The train was very clean, there was no rubbish on the floor and especially the toilets were very clean. We had made ourselves very comfortable. The internet had full bars and worked perfectly. There were also charging stations for mobile phones, laptops etc. Catering was also provided, for example a plaster. In general, the train journey was very pleasant and the atmosphere was also there as the staff were very chilled out and also very nice. I had a very positive experience with the trip, which I can gladly pass on.

It was a pleasant and atmospheric journey to Munich. I had a window on my reclining seat and the heating was on. My wifi was really great I had no internet at all, or download problems Point in the train it was quiet, but unfortunately my train ticket was a bit more expensive, but I think it was worth it. I can recommend it lovingly point I liked using the toilets because it smelled good in the toilets. The staff were friendly.

Disadvantages
IconTechnical faults as far as wifi is concerned
The train was five minutes on time. The food tasted great, I had ordered a butter sandwich, which tasted very good. My camomile tea was also very tasty. Unfortunately, there was a technical glitch regarding wifi, but that wasn't a problem because it was so great and we got shared mobile hotspot. I can recommend it to others - it was a great trip. I travelled for four and a half hours and didn't have to change trains.

I wanted to visit my son in Munich just in time for the New Year. I managed to get a cheap ticket to Munich from Deutsche Bahn. Unfortunately, the misery started when the first train was cancelled and the second one was significantly late. The hygienic conditions on the train were subterranean. It stank terribly of faeces and the toilets were unusable. The only positive thing to mention is the good connection, that I didn't have to change trains and that the journey went quite quickly when the train finally arrived. But that's typical for Deutsche Bahn.

IconHygiene
The return journey was very comfortable, just like the outward journey. There was a good reception and the train was on time. One negative aspect, however, was that in contrast to the outward journey, there was no outstanding hygiene and cleanliness. Nevertheless, I can also recommend this connection. The staff made a great effort and helped wherever they could. The ticket price was also very fair and I recommend the journey.

The train connection from Cologne to Munich is a good thing. The train connection is quick and easy to use. There are few intermediate stops and therefore a quick journey is guaranteed. The only regrets were that the toilets were not clean and that many things were not available in the on-board restaurant.

A pleasant journey with a good view. Personally, I can only recommend travelling by train in general, the stress you save and the view you get. The train journey wasn't too long, but it wasn't short either. The train was clean and tidy. The wifi and power sockets worked and I had a table where I could put my laptop to watch a film. I think the price-performance ratio was good.

About my journey from Cologne to Munich. I was very pleased with the ICE. First of all, the punctuality was very commendable, as I reached my destination without a minute's delay. In addition, the train was extremely well maintained, modern and very well equipped. The cleanliness and comfort were outstanding. The service was also good, as I was served coffee at my seat, something I have never experienced before.

I booked the connection to change trains from Munich to Paris, so it didn't bother me too much, but unfortunately I had two 6-hour journeys in a row. A mediocre journey! It started quite well with the train ready to leave when I got on, but unfortunately a technical problem occurred during the journey and we had to stop several times and wait for it to continue, which made the journey quite lengthy. At least I had a comfortable seat and therefore no back pain afterwards. I was also quite happy that there was working wifi so I could distract myself

The price-performance ratio of this journey was fine. The train arrived on time and was clean and well air-conditioned. The train travelled straight through to the destination. The journey from Cologne to Munich was so far nothing to complain about, as the journey time was extremely short for this distance. It was also a very nice, well-maintained and, above all, modern train with very comfortable seats and a bistro. However, I have to say that the prices in the bistro were quite high. The train had no delays and I therefore arrived in Munich on time. You had free access to the wifi.

Overall a reasonably good journey, but unfortunately the train wasn't on time and was twenty minutes late. The delay was, however, almost made up for during the journey. The facilities were good and my seat was comfortable and clean. The staff were friendly and helpful.

IconBoardbistro too expensive
I made another business trip with ICE and, as always, was delighted with the simplicity. It's quick, easy and uncomplicated. The on-board bistro was too expensive for me personally and, as always, the toilet facilities were not clean enough. Nevertheless, I will continue to use the ICE for my business trips. Booking the ticket online is quick and easy.

Disadvantages
IconService was okay
I actually wanted to get my first meal of the day on the train because I didn't have any more time and was very stressed, but unfortunately the on-board bistro wasn't open, so I had to start my 4-hour journey without having eaten. At least the service was okay and the journey went by relatively quickly. It's also worth mentioning that the route is actually really nice to look at.

IconDuration
Unfortunately, the train wasn't on time at all and I had to wait a very long time until it finally set off. Unfortunately, this also extended the duration of the whole journey. At least the train was comfortable and well equipped. The staff were nice and friendly. If there had been no delay, it would have been very good value for money, but this was not the case and so it was not good value for money either.

I travelled by train from Cologne to Munich on business. I saw on the timetable that there was a regular connection to Munich. The train arrived on time and there were no delays or disruptions on the rest of the journey. I received a friendly welcome from the on-board staff and was immediately impressed by the friendliness and cleanliness of the train. I hadn't reserved a seat, but I had no problems finding a nice seat. The wifi offered and the charging facilities for mobile phones and tablets were available and worked perfectly.
