Starting at London St Pancras, the Eurostar is a direct journey that whizzes around 320 kilometers (199 miles) through the Channel Tunnel and terminates at Paris Gare du Nord. The London to Paris train time is just 2 hours 15 minutes, and there are no intermediary stops. While London to Paris flights take less time in the air, I find the journey lasts longer overall, especially when factoring in travel to and from the airport.

Departure station

In Paris, the Gare du Nord is just north of the city center, a five-minute RER train ride away. You can just hop off the train and find your connection, as immigration will have already been done. Around 16–19 trains per day operate, typically once an hour. They’re usually quite punctual, but delays do happen, so factor this in if you have connections.

Arrival station

Right in the heart of the city, St Pancras Station is the Eurostar terminus. Check in at St Pancras was easy – I arrived 90 minutes early (as recommended) and went through security. While there are scanners, airline liquid rules don’t apply (I could even bring my coffee through!). I then went through French immigration before boarding. There are a couple of cafes past security, but for an excellent coffee, I recommend arriving early and visiting Black Sheep Coffee just outside.

Onboard experience & services

I’ve traveled in both Standard and Standard Premier class on the train from St Pancras to Gare du Nord. Both have comfy seats, but Standard Premier is wider and more spacious. Wi-Fi is generally available throughout the journey but can be intermittent (especially when you’re under the sea!). In Standard Premier, you’re offered a complimentary meal, while in Standard, you can use the restaurant car, which serves sandwiches and small meals. As it’s a short journey, I’ve usually found the bathrooms to be fairly clean and well-stocked throughout. After rolling out of London, the train travels through the Kent countryside before entering the Channel Tunnel — I always find this a fun experience, although there’s not much to see! Then, it’s around a 90-minute journey through the Normandy countryside before reaching the Parisian outskirts.

Should I take the train or bus from London to Paris? I’ll always choose to travel London to Paris by train. London to Paris buses are available, but the journey can take up to 10 hours and include a ferry crossing. You can book Eurostar London to Paris tickets 6–8 months in advance, and I’d recommend reserving your spot as soon as possible for the best price (along with the Paris to London train if you’re returning). Prices always include a seat reservation and range between £50–£110, with earlier and later departures often being cheaper.

When I got in, I chose an empty seat. Then I went to the toilet and saw that everything was nice and clean. When I got back to my seat, I charged my mobile phone and connected to the wifi. The volume was very pleasant and I didn't have to change. The services were very friendly. The food was very good and so the price-quality ratio is balanced.

Some time ago I travelled from London to Paris. It was very easy to book the tickets online. The inside of the train was very clean and hygienic. I left on time and arrived at my destination in about three hours. As always, there were a lot of people on the train, but I didn't mind. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Train number ICE 3987 was the train that departed from London to Paris at 7:46 a.m. on 28 February from platform five. The train had wifi and power sockets. The seats were comfortable, which is very important on a twelve and a half hour journey. Despite the long journey, the train was clean and hygienic the whole time, as were the toilets. The staff were nice and polite, despite the long journey.

I travelled on the Eurostar 9022 from London to Paris on time in just two and a half hours. However, you have to arrive an hour earlier for the airport-style security checks. The journey in 1st class (Standard Premier) was very pleasant: the seats are comfortable and spacious, it was quiet and clean, there was wifi and power sockets at my seat as well as a small lunch and drinks just like on an aeroplane. The only thing I find a pity is the rather high reservation surcharge for Interrail travellers, which you have to buy weeks in advance to be sure of a seat due to the small contingent.

The Flix Train journey from London to Paris was pleasant overall. The ticket booking went smoothly and the seat reservation was easy. The seating comfort was good, the journey time was pleasant, although it was a little noisy at times. There was no catering and the furnishings were rather functional. The Flix train route from London to Paris was very interesting. It was easy to buy tickets online and you had the option of reserving a seat for a small surcharge. The train arrived on time and the volume was very pleasant. Unfortunately, the wifi was only mediocre, but it was still sufficient for light use. The catering was very limited and it is advisable to bring your own snacks. WC is clean and hygiene was fine. There was no need to change trains, which meant the journey time was shorter.

I had a fantastic journey on the Eurostar from London to Paris in Premier class! The whole service was first class from start to finish. As soon as I checked in at London St Pancras, I was able to use the exclusive Premier lane and was through the checks in no time at all. In the Premier compartment, a spacious seat with plenty of legroom and sockets for charging my devices awaited me. The highlight was definitely the delicious three-course meal served at my seat. There was also a good selection of wines and drinks. The attentive train attendants made sure that I wanted for nothing. The journey flew by and before I knew it, we had already arrived in Paris. For me, the Eurostar Premier is the perfect way to travel from London to Paris in comfort and without stress. The extra cost is definitely worth it for this luxurious experience.

I travelled on the Eurostar 9080. The Eurostar is always a great experience. The trains are way ahead of Deutsche Bahn. The journey took under 3 hours and arrived on time. The service staff were all very nice and polite to me. Value for money moderate, unfortunately a little expensive for a train ticket but, for what it promises, you can look past that. All in all, I was very satisfied with the journey.

The train from London to Paris was very full. The noise level on the train was also very high. The cleanliness was not good. The seats and the accompanying tables in particular could have been cleaner. Otherwise, the staff were very friendly and the seats were comfortable. For our short trips last year, we decided to do something for the environment and not fly. So we travelled from London to Paris by train.
