The train journey from Salzburg to Vienna was very pleasant overall. The modern Railjet trains offer a high level of comfort and free wifi. Unfortunately, tickets booked at short notice can be expensive and even if you have a climate ticket, the seat reservation is not free:/

I travelled for a holiday. Westbahn is superior to ÖBB in terms of price/performance, and the staff are usually friendlier and more courteous. In addition, a seat is reserved when you book your ticket early, which is a big plus. Wifi and charging stations work and the train was on time. I would travel on the Westbahn again.

Had to travel from Salzburg to Vienna for private reasons. My journey with the Westbahn from Salzburg to Vienna Westbahnhof was overall a very pleasant and recommendable experience. As soon as I boarded, I noticed the exceptionally friendly staff and that the Westbahn is at ground level for boarding and alighting. Thanks to the self-check-in, you have almost nothing to do with the staff afterwards. All in all, highly recommended.

I am absolutely delighted with my journey on the Railjet 541 from Salzburg to Vienna! The train was punctual, clean and modern - exactly what you want for a relaxing train journey. The seats were very comfortable, there was plenty of space for luggage and the free wifi worked perfectly. I would particularly like to emphasise the friendly and helpful staff, who were always available to answer questions and made the service really pleasant. I was also impressed by the on-board restaurant: the selection of food and drinks was varied and the food was served quickly and freshly. The atmosphere on the train was quiet and relaxed, so I was able to make the most of the time to work and relax. There are separate areas for families, which I think is very well thought out. Overall, my journey on Railjet 541 was an all-round positive experience - from booking to arrival in Vienna.

I recently travelled from Salzburg to Vienna on the Railjet 541. It was really pleasant! The train is modern, the seats are super comfortable and there's plenty of space for luggage. Wifi also works really well, which I always find handy if you want to work or listen to music while travelling. The train staff were friendly and always said hello, and you could get coffee and snacks in the on-board restaurant. The route is beautiful, you pass lakes and mountains, which makes the journey really entertaining. All in all, it was a really relaxing journey - I can only recommend it!

The journey was very comfortable and I found a seat straight away, even without a reservation. There was a socket under the seat to charge my mobile phone. There was a slight delay of about 5 minutes, but that wasn't too bad. The toilets were clean and the train in general was also very clean. There was a restaurant, but I didn't use it as the prices were quite high.

I wanted to travel for a weekend and decided to take the train. It was the quickest, cheapest and most comfortable alternative. The train left Salzburg Hbf on time at 20:30 and arrived at Vienna Hbf on time at 23:37. I was able to charge my mobile phone throughout the journey and the internet was also fine. I didn't use the on-board bistro. However, the toilets were okay, with a bit of paper on the floor, but that's familiar. Otherwise the journey was very satisfactory.

I travelled from Salzburg to Vienna to visit my sister. The short journey of about 2 hours went quickly as we were on time. I left at 4pm and was there at 6.20pm. The service was great as usual. Only the toilets and the network left something to be desired. Both rather poor. But okay for a price of 36 euros.

I really enjoy travelling from Salzburg to Vienna Central Station on the Railjet. The seats in second class are spacious enough for people of average stature. The train usually runs smoothly and without delays. There are stops in Linz, St. Pölten and Vienna Meidling. With the economy rail, the price is also very reasonable. Of course, one accepts the risk of cancellation, but normally I don't have to make use of it.

The train ride from Salzburg to Vienna was a very pleasant experience overall. The train was extremely clean and also offered a lot of luxury. Nevertheless, the journey was comfortable and relaxed overall. I can only recommend the train journey to everyone.

The journey from Salzburg to Vienna was on the RJ167 in second class. It was a pleasant journey, although there were plenty of stops. As a result, the journey dragged on a little. I travelled from Salzburg to Vienna with the RJ 167. Unfortunately, the train was half an hour late. I did not reserve any seats, yet I was able to sit for the whole journey. I completed the route from Salzburg to Vienna with the RJ167. It should be emphasised that the train departed on time and also arrived on time. However, I would describe this journey as a stroll, as the train stops at many places and the journey is thus delayed. I can't say anything negative about the service, which was not to be complained about. In addition, the train was clean and in good condition.

I travelled second class from Salzburg to Vienna on the RJ 167. The journey felt like it took forever, which I didn't like. Otherwise, the train was on time for the entire journey. The journey was from Salzburg to Vienna on the RJ167. The journey took just over 2 hours, it was a relaxed stroll. The train was on time the whole way. There were enough seats available, so a reservation would have been superfluous.

IconA little tough
My journey from Salzburg to Vienna was on the whole quite pleasant and not to be complained about. The train was relatively new and therefore not yet worn out. It was also clean and well maintained. The on-board staff were friendly, I can't say anything negative. The landscapes along the route are definitely worth a trip. The train was on time and also arrived at its destination on time. There were not many passengers on board. The journey dragged on a bit, but that could also be due to my impatience.
Advantages
IconPlenty of space

I bought the ticket when I was still a student. That's why the price was reduced from 51,20 to 38,80. The seats were very comfortable. I can recommend it to anyone who wants to work, study etc. on the journey. In 2nd class there were even tables between the seats that could be folded out and right next to them there were enough sockets for a laptop etc. There was also the possibility to buy food on board. There was also enough space above the seats for my luggage. The toilet facilities were very clean and spacious. The train arrived about 10 minutes late, which was no problem. The station in Salzburg was very well equipped with restaurants etc. The price-performance ratio is great. The price-performance ratio is great, especially for students with a top youth ticket. The wifi on board was reliable and fast. I especially liked the black and red seats.

The train journey was everything you could wish for. The train was on time for the pick-up and dropped me off at Bremen main station on time. Exploring Vienna's Architectural and Cultural Treasures

Schönbrunn Palace, once the summer residence of the Habsburg emperors, boasts a rich history that dates back to the 17th century when it was transformed from a hunting lodge into an opulent baroque palace. Its significance lies not only in its architectural grandeur but also as a symbol of Austria's imperial past and cultural heritage; today, it is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Unique features include its stunning gardens, ornate rooms like the Great Gallery adorned with exquisite frescoes, and the world’s oldest zoo located on its grounds.

St. Stephen's Cathedral stands proudly at Vienna's heart and has been an iconic landmark since its construction began in 1137; this gothic masterpiece reflects centuries of religious devotion and artistic achievement. The cathedral holds immense significance for both locals and visitors alike as it serves as a spiritual center while showcasing remarkable historical events such as royal weddings and funerals throughout Austrian history. Among its unique features are the striking multicolored tile roof depicting the coat of arms of Austria, intricate stone carvings adorning every façade, and breathtaking views from atop its towering spire.

Belvedere Palace is renowned for being one of Europe’s finest examples of baroque architecture built during the early 18th century by Prince Eugene of Savoy; it consists of two palaces—the Upper Belvedere and Lower Belvedere—set amidst beautifully landscaped gardens. This magnificent site holds great significance due to housing an impressive collection including Gustav Klimt’s "The Kiss," making it essential for art lovers visiting Vienna to explore these masterpieces firsthand. Unique aspects include not just their stunning architecture but also expansive terraces offering panoramic views over Vienna along with meticulously designed fountains that enhance your experience within this historic estate.
