Departure train station: The trains for this route depart from the Salzburg Hbf. Station. This station is about 1.5 miles (3 km) north of the city center of Salzburg. There are various buses that arrive directly at the Salzburg Hbf. station that take you from Old Town Salzburg in under 15min. The Salzburg Hbf. station has a few cafes and restaurants as well as tourist information, ATMs and newsstands.
Arrival train station: These train routes arrive at the Hallstatt Train Station located on the Hallstatt Lake. This station is located directly across the lake from the Austrian town of Hallstatt. To get into town there is a ferry that crosses the lake in about 5 to 10min, with departures coinciding with train arrival times. The Hallstatt Train Station is merely a stop with a bench for waiting and timetable information.

The main Austrian Railway company is the ÖBB, operating almost all of the routes between Salzburg and Hallstatt. The ÖBB trips are not direct between these two Austrian cities, however, there are multiple options throughout the day taking as little as 2h 12min to complete the journey.
