It is quite easy to reach the airport from the city center via public transit. Milan's public transportation system includes trams, metro, bus and train. Either the bus line 73 or the Linate Shuttle Bus are the best means of reaching the airport from Milan city center as the train in Milan only reaches as far as Milan Forlanini station, from which passengers will need to join the bus line 73. The route takes 45 to 60 minutes, but it is recommended that travelers leave closer to two hours for this journey via public transportation, as it can take a little extra time to navigate a foreign system. Travelers can also drive or take a taxi to the airport, but these follow the same route as the buses, so are not necessarily any faster options. 

What's the best way to get to Milan Linate Airport from Milan city center?

There are two popular ways to reach Milan Linate Airport from Milan city center, and both are quite straightforward bus routes. The first way is via bus line 73. Passengers can catch the number 73 bus at Duomo M1-M3 subway station. The Duomo station, also known as Piazza Diaz, is just over half a mile  (0.8 kilometers) northeast of Milan city center, and walking this distance takes just ten to 12 minutes. Travelers with heavy luggage can also reach Duomo Station by hopping on the number three subway line from Via Torino Via S. Maria Valle station, and riding for three stops. The next best way to reach the airport is from Milan Centrale Station, from which passengers can take the Linate Shuttle Bus for 25 minutes. To reach Centrale Station from Milan city center, travelers can take the number 2 subway line for five stops from S. Ambrogio, or the number 3 subway line for six stops from Missori stations. This takes roughly 20 minutes, or is a 50 minute walk. 

How far is it from Milan city center to Milan Linate Airport?

Milan Linate Airport is just over five miles (eight kilometers) east of Milan city center. Passengers coming from the city center can take either of the two main routes in 45 to 60 minutes. The best route will depend on the point of origin. Travelers closer to Duomo can walk to the Duomo subway station and catch the line 73 bus straight to the airport. Those closer to Centrale Station can take the subway there and then the Linate Shuttle Bus to the airport. 

What facilities are there at Milan Linate Airport?

How accessible is the route for those with limited mobility?

Most public buses in Milan use low-floor buses and are wheelchair-accessible, and the main train stations have elevators and assistance desks. Passengers with limited mobility will want to contact the airport's accessibility association, Sala Amica, at least 48 hours before they fly. Otherwise, there are Sala Amica pick up points throughout the airport where assistance can be requested. The airport recommends parking lots P1 and P2 as these are closer to the main airport, but all parking lots are equipped with disabled parking spots.
