Pisa and Florence are two of Italy's most popular tourist destinations due to their picturesque architecture and historical sites. The good news is that they are only a short bus or train ride away from each other, and the journey will take less than an hour in most cases. Travelers in Italy can also choose shared automobile services like Bla Bla Car, which may take even less time to reach Florence. If you do take the bus, be aware that service leave from Pisa Airport, not the center of town, although it takes very little time to reach the terminal bus stop.
Return trips from Florence to Pisa are also available.
Buses are an excellent way to travel from Pisa to Florence, and in many instances are faster than trains. The bus company Terravision runs regular buses from Pisa to Florence which depart from Pisa Airport and arrive at Florence's Santa Maria Novella station, which takes one hour. To get to the airport, just catch the PisaMover bus shuttle from Pisa station, which leaves every 10 minutes and takes just 8 minutes to get to the terminal doors.
Trenitalia run fast trains from Pisa to Florence which depart from Pisa Centrale station and arrive at Santa Maria Novella, in the heart of Florence. The journey time will usually be around 1 hour 10 minutes, which is actually slightly quicker than buses when the time to reach Pisa Airport is included. Train departures are extremely frequent, with services in the middle of the night, early morning and all other times of day - so there should be a service to fit your itinerary. Getting to Pisa Centrale is simply a matter of walking if you are staying in central hotels but buses 2, 5, 12, 16 and 21 also stop outside the station.
