The journey from Naples to Florence can be made by train, bus or plane. The fastest journey is by high-speed train, taking around 2.5 hours. Two bus companies operate direct bus routes, with journey times of about 6.5 hours, a similar time to making the journey by plane. However, traveling in Italy by bus is more straightforward and considerably cheaper, as planes either fly Naples to Pisa, or to Florence, via Milan and Rome.

Buses from Naples to Florence take approximately 6.5 hours, with 10 departures a day, operated by Baltour and Megabus. Departures start at around 8:30 a.m., continuing until just before midnight. Buses depart from the Corso Arnoldo Lucci Metropark in Naples. Baltour buses terminate on Via Santa Catarina, while Megabus arrivals are on Piazzale Montelungo, both centrally located for city transport links of tram, bus and local train.
There are over 40 trains from Naples to Florence departing every day, which take just under 3 hours. Trenitalia Frecciarossa trains depart between the early hours of the morning and around 10:00 p.m., leaving from Naples Centrale Station, which has good transport links across the city. They arrive at Florence Santa Maria Novella Station linked to the city by its tram line and local buses.
There are no direct flights between the two cities. Alitalia offer the fastest route with flights from Naples Airport to Pisa Airport, with the onward journey made by train. This route takes approximately 6.5 hours. Flights from Naples to Florence Airport involve connections at Milan and Rome and take considerably longer.
