Route overview
Eurostar is currently the only operator running direct trains between Amsterdam and Paris. While a few competitors have expressed interest in launching similar services, it remains your only choice for the foreseeable future. If you’re feeling adventurous (and patient), you could take a slower option: a direct intercity train from Amsterdam to Brussels, followed by Ouigo’s train service to Paris. It might be cheaper, but it will take almost twice as long!
Transportation experience
Since Eurostar is the sole operator of this extremely popular route, the prices can be high, and trains often sell out days in advance. My advice? Book as early as possible. I booked my ticket through Omio, which gave me a clear overview of prices and available options. As always, the booking process was smooth and reliable.

Departure station
Amsterdam Centraal is fantastic. Perfectly located for tourists, nearly every interesting spot in the city is within walking distance. When heading toward France, I recommend sitting on the left-hand side of the train to catch a view of Amsterdam’s canals as you depart. Paris Gare du Nord will always hold a special place in my heart. I grew up in northern France, so it was the starting point for many holidays and the gateway home. Tip: Make sure you step outside the station and cross Rue de Dunkerque to admire views of its monumental façade. And just across the street, you can grab amazing croissants at Carton Paris!

Eurostar trains depart Amsterdam approximately every hour, usually at XX:10. The journey takes three and a half hours, which is impressively fast for crossing three countries. Trains run daily.
Onboard experience & services
Eurostar offers three travel classes: Standard – Comfortable and affordable, equivalent to second class. Standard Premier – More spacious seating with a light meal included. Business Premier – Luxurious service with meals, champagne, and fast-track boarding. I traveled in Business Premier, and it was fantastic despite the higher price. There’s a café mid-train, but I didn’t need it since my meal was delivered right to my seat. The steward welcomed me with a menu, and I had several options to choose from, including alcoholic drinks. I went with a delicious Belgian beer—sipping it at 300 km/h while still in Belgium was a highlight! Eurostar’s catering is great. Expect cold dishes, but they’re fresh and genuinely tasty. Scenery The Dutch countryside was my favorite: cruising through the lowlands, crossing rivers, and spotting classic windmills in the background was a real treat. I also loved gliding right through the heart of Brussels, the capital of Europe!
