Over the Easter holidays, I travelled to Erfurt via Munich with Deutsche Bahn. The train was on time, clean and I had no problems getting a seat. I chose the ICE for this connection because of its speed. It would have taken me twice as long by car. As I have a Bahncard 25, the ticket was affordable and still cheaper than if I had travelled the whole way by car. The on-board entertainment ran smoothly and it was easy to pass the time with films.

The train journey from Munich to Erfurt was generally pleasant and without any major problems. The seats were comfortable, there was enough space for luggage and the route offered some lovely views, especially in Thuringia. I found it particularly positive that the train departed on time and also arrived almost on time, which is not a given on this long route. The announcements were clear and useful. The only minor drawback was the poor quality of mobile phone reception on certain sections of the route.

For once a connection that was not on time. But that wasn't too bad. I always take something like that into account. I had a good seat. The toilets were very clean and I reached my destination quickly. There was a kiosk on the train. However, I didn't buy anything here as it was just too expensive for me.

I was quite happy with the train journey overall. The train arrived on time and the connection was direct, which is particularly important to me on longer journeys. My seat was comfortable, clean and equipped with a table. The power socket also worked without any problems, which was handy because I wanted to work while travelling. The atmosphere in the coach was pleasantly quiet and not too crowded. The journey time flew by. The only thing that bothered me a little was the toilet, which was usable but not particularly clean. The rubbish bin at the site was also quite full. Nevertheless, the journey was much more relaxed than expected.

Unfortunately, the train journey was disappointing. The train arrived late, which messed up my whole schedule for the day. The seats were uncomfortable and it was quite noisy, which made it difficult to relax. Wifi didn't work at all and the cleanliness left a lot to be desired. It was not a pleasant experience for me and I am considering choosing a different travel option next time.

I took the train in the morning to go home after my holiday. Value for money was very good. Train was on time and there was enough space and legroom. What wasn't so good was that it was noisy with children around us and the toilets were unclean. Would still recommend the journey.
Advantages
IconFast and direct
Disadvantages
IconCrowded
The train was exceptionally punctual. It is nice that you can travel directly from Munich to Erfurt. Without having to change trains hectically. Although I was sitting in the so-called quiet area, it was quite noisy. The staff didn't care. Otherwise, however, they were friendly and helpful. The seats were quite comfortable. Unfortunately, both the wifi and the power sockets were not working. I can only describe the hygienic conditions of the toilets as catastrophic. I find the regular prices for train journeys quite expensive in general. It may be that the price-performance ratio is okay and fair with this super saver fare.

Disadvantages
IconNo staff available
IconNo ticket control and announcements
The journey had been very relaxed because there was no need to change trains and the train was not very busy. Therefore, it had been quite quiet on the train and the comfortable seats made it really easy to relax. However, there were no staff on the train, as no announcements were made and no ticket checks were carried out. Otherwise, it was very clean on the train and in the toilets and the train arrived at its destination on time. The journey took only 2 hours and 30 minutes due to punctuality.
Advantages

Disadvantages
IconNone
I would like to mention in advance that I was able to book the ticket well in advance and the price was therefore absolutely unbeatable. The train itself was very hygienic and clean. The toilets were also well cleaned. Apart from a few spots, the reception was stable. In terms of service, I must express my appreciation. The staff were always helpful and you could ask questions without getting funny looks. It was also very comfortable.
