Hamburg HAM to Madrid MAD flight with Iberia

The flight from Hamburg to Madrid went quite well so far, especially because the ticket price was manageable and the booking was very straightforward. I received a friendly welcome on board and the overall service was excellent. The journey took just under two hours. Fortunately, there were no delays. On the negative side, I found that the seats were not really clean. Improvements could be made here. Otherwise, I can highly recommend this connection.

Check-in was quick and easy. I checked in online, which saved me a lot of time at the airport. At the gate, boarding was well organised, with no long waiting times, and the staff were friendly and professional. The flight itself was on time, which is always a big plus for me. In terms of comfort, it was okay for the flight. The seats were a bit narrower than on long-haul flights, but still comfortable enough for the short duration. The legroom was okay, not huge, but sufficient for me as a not particularly tall person. The crew on board were nice and professional. There were drinks, but no free snacks, which I think is fine for a flight of this length. I just bought myself something, which was no big deal. Everything went quickly and without unnecessary delays.

I flew by plane from Hamburg to Madrid a long time ago and had a wonderful experience. I flew with the airline Lufthansa and the flight took about 3 hours. The departure gate was very well signposted in the hall and I found both check-in and boarding straight away. Boarding was a little slow, as the business passengers boarded first and then everyone else. In addition, 2 other passengers were missing before departure, so the departure was delayed again by a few minutes. In the air, there was all sorts of food to buy, from salads and sandwiches to juices and alcoholic drinks. I had a window seat near the wings and it was incredibly comfortable. The seat could even be reclined to give you a bit more legroom. The toilets were clean at all times and the whole aircraft was kept clean. Unfortunately, it was a bit noisy in the cabin as there were a lot of children on board, but fortunately there was soft music playing in the background so that you could distract yourself a little. The flight landed on time in Madrid after all and the stay went without any further problems.

The flight was okay overall, but there were a few points of criticism. Changing planes was quite stressful as the time between flights was short and the distances were long. In addition, the cleanliness of the aircraft left a lot to be desired, especially the toilets, which were not cleaned properly and were not in good condition early on in the flight. The punctual departures and landings and the comfortable seats were positive. The staff were friendly and there were power sockets for charging. The price-performance ratio was fine. Overall an average experience.

You could check in directly online within the app and thus avoid the long queues at the "normal check-ins". This service was completely free of charge and saved a lot of valuable time. Within a few minutes, all passengers were seated in the very thoroughly tidied aircraft and cleared for take-off. On the one hand, the seats were relatively comfortable, but on the other hand, the distances from seat to seat were very narrow. As a result, you could neither stretch your legs nor sit comfortably for a long period of time. On the other hand, the service and serving of drinks was very good. We were walked through the cabin several times and asked whether we were thirsty or hungry. If so, you were offered a wide variety of coffee, tea, cocoa or juices, as well as various bread and soup dishes. If you had any suggestions about the flavour of the food, salt and pepper were even brought on request. Jewellery and perfume were also sold at relatively low prices. Fortunately, the toilets were always clean and well-maintained and even smelled of disinfectant, which suggests that they had been hygienically cleaned. Arrival was on schedule, although the flight departed a few minutes late. In Madrid, all passengers were greeted in a friendly manner and all questions were answered. For all these reasons, I can recommend both the flight and the airline.
