The Centro Alameda station is just over half a mile (0.8 kilometers) southwest of Malaga's city center, and travelers can walk the distance in ten to 15 minutes. It takes roughly 11 minutes and makes three stops along the way. The second best way to get to the airport is via the Linea Express bus which travels from the city center to the airport every 25 to 30 minutes and takes 15 minutes. The bus travels at all hours of the day and best suits those with flights departing during the night or in the very early morning hours.
Both the train and the bus are frequent and fast. The train runs every 20 to 30 minutes. Departures begin at 6.10 a.m. and the last train departs at 20 past midnight. There is a bus every 25 to 30 minutes and the bus departures are frequent all throughout the night. Driving to the airport is also an option. Driving takes 25 to 30 minutes without traffic. It is recommended passengers leave more than the minimum 30 minutes to reach the airport, and ensure they have at least one hour to get to their check in on time.

There are three terminals at the airport and they are filled with more than enough amenities to keep passengers entertained till their flight. Like all European Union airports, Malaga Airport runs a 24 hour service for travelers with limited mobility which should be requested 48 hours in advance. The assistance provided depends on the individual needs of the passenger, but includes meeting points at several key locations throughout the facility where a member of staff will meet passengers to help with luggage while checking in, take them where they need to go throughout the airport, and help them board their flight.
Locals take the train to Malaga Airport, unless they have a flight departing in the very early hours of the morning. Trains avoid traffic and are the most reliable, convenient way to get to their flight. Locals take a bit of time getting from the city center to Centro Alameda, stopping by a few attractive sights along the way.
