My journey on the ÖBB Nightjet NJ 40490 from Regensburg to Vienna was a real experience. After boarding, I quickly settled in and discovered the compartment for myself: it was simple, but clean and offered enough space to retreat and relax. I found it particularly pleasant to be able to stretch out in the couchette carriage and watch the passing scenery through the window as the train travelled through the night. The atmosphere in the train was quiet, many passengers lay down straight away, others were still reading or talking quietly. The lights in the compartment could be dimmed so that you could fall asleep in a relaxed mood. It was sometimes a little livelier in the corridor, but overall the journey was pleasantly quiet. Even though the comfort in the couchette carriage is not comparable to a hotel room, I slept surprisingly well and was woken gently in the morning. The gentle movement of the train actually made it easier to fall asleep. After waking up, there was still time for a look at the dawn before the train arrived in Vienna on time.

Disadvantages
IconNo weakness
It was a very relaxed and pleasant journey, we had no problems during the trip. I felt very comfortable as the seats were very comfortable and the train was very clean. The service was also really friendly. You could book on the spot as well as online. The train also arrived on time, as agreed. I was also really satisfied with the price-performance ratio.

Sylt Shuttle Plus

About
Sylt Shuttle Plus was a unique passenger train service operated by Deutsche Bahn (DB) that connected Niebüll and Westerland on the island of Sylt, Germany. Unlike the primary Sylt Shuttle, which transports vehicles, the "Plus" service was designed for passengers without cars. It involved coupling a Class 628 diesel multiple unit to the rear of the car shuttle train. Introduced in 2015, the Sylt Shuttle Plus gained notoriety for its often-empty carriages and longer travel times compared to regional trains, leading to its nickname "ghost train." The service was discontinued in December 2024.
