The fastest connection on the 225-mile high-speed AVE line from Cordoba to Madrid is the early evening departure from Cordoba, taking one hour and 43 minutes to reach Atocha Station in the capital. Most AVE connections take two or three minutes longer, with some Altaria express trains taking around two hours to reach Madrid.
Renfe's schedule offers roughly three trains an hour from the early morning to early afternoon. After a brief hiatus in the early afternoon, subsequent departures are roughly every half hour through the late afternoon and evening, with a final connection to Madrid leaving the Andalucian city just before 10:00 p.m. Sunday schedules are slightly reduced, with a later first train from Cordoba.
Departure train station: Cordoba Central Station is the main departure point for high-speed AVE services, located north-west of the city center, with local bus connections stopping at the nearby bus terminus. Arrival train station: Madrid Atocha Station is on the south-east side of central Madrid, with public transport links on city bus routes, the Madrid Metro and Cercanias suburban rail network. Facilities on the bright, modern station concourse include tapas bars, restaurants, a sculpture gallery, gift stores, free WiFi and baggage storage lockers.
Passengers board the train most frequently from Córdoba Central, which is located around 2.4 miles (3.9 km) away from the city centre, and they get off the train at Madrid-Puerta de Atocha-Almudena Grandes, located 1.4 miles (2.2 km) away from the city centre.
