A popular route with business travelers, direct flights from Amsterdam Schiphol to Frankfurt am Main offer an alternative to rail travel for visitors to the German city. Frequent direct flights are provided by two national carriers, seven days a week, with journey times from Amsterdam of just over an hour. The timetables offer a choice of morning, afternoon and evening departure times.
Dutch national carrier KLM and German national airline Lufthansa both provide direct flights from Amsterdam to Frankfurt am Main. As this is one of the shorter European flights, indirect connections are not a practical consideration on this route.
The fastest connections on the 228-mile route east from the Netherlands to the German city are Lufthansa flights which take one hour and five minutes to reach Frankfurt am Main. KLM flights take five minutes longer to complete the trip.
Daily schedules offer 12 direct flights to Frankfurt from Amsterdam on Monday-Wednesday, ten services from Thursday-Saturday and 11 connections on Sundays. The schedules begin with the first flight at around 8:00 a.m. and continue with services roughly every hour in the morning and slightly less frequently for the rest of the day, until a final departure from Amsterdam just before 9:00 p.m.
Departure airport: Amsterdam Schiphol. One of Europe's major flight hubs, Schiphol Airport is situated about five miles south-west of central Amsterdam, connected by frequent trains from the central station, taking about 15 minutes from the station to the terminal. Passenger facilities include long and short stay parking lots, a business center, library, cafes and restaurants, duty-free shopping and free WiFi.
Arrival airport: Frankfurt am Main. Located around eight miles south-west of the city center, Frankfurt Airport has regular train connections downtown on S-Bahn lines S8 and S9 or the Regional Express services 59 and 75, taking about 15 minutes. The modern terminal offers car rental desks, duty-free shopping, children's play areas, free WiFi, and a wide range of international restaurants.
