The distance between the two Belgian cities of Bruges and Brussels is only around 110 kilometers, so no commercial flights are available. Traveling by bus involves a complicated route of hopping from town to town on suburban services so the only time and cost effective method of traveling from Bruges to Brussels is by taking the train.

Trains from Bruges to Brussels take approximately one hour using Belgium InterCity trains. This regular service has four departures an hour starting at just after 4:00 a.m. and running until around 5:00 p.m. The service is slightly reduced on Sundays. Trains depart from Bruges' train station which is conveniently located close to Bruges' tourist attractions. Bruges' train station is located next to the canal and a stroll of around twenty minutes through interesting cobbled streets takes visitors to the city center. For visitors with luggage frequent buses run from the station to the central Markt Square and once there De Lijn buses run regularly around the town. Trains arrive at Bruxelles-Midi Station which can be found a five minute Metro or tram ride away from the city center. Brussels has an extensive network of Metro trains and local De Lijn and TEC buses while Noctis buses operate throughout Friday and Saturday nights. Taxi ranks are located outside both stations and car rentals are available at Brussels-Midi.
