Advantages
IconQuick
IconClean toilet
IconComfortable seat
Disadvantages
IconUnpunctual
My train journey from Vienna to Graz was a positive experience overall. The journey was surprisingly fast and the seats were comfortable and good for sleeping. I was particularly positively surprised that the train toilet was clean and well-maintained. However, I must mention that the train was slightly unpunctual, which was a bit annoying. Overall, however, it was still a very comfortable and pleasant journey, which I would certainly repeat.
Advantages
IconA really great connection with the Railjet
IconSavings rail highly recommended
IconDining car in the Railjet
IconFirst class mostly empty
Disadvantages
IconWatch out: The train from Prague to Graz is already very full from Vienna
I'm generally very happy with the train from Vienna to Graz, especially when it's a new Railjet set. These trains are generally clean and have new and modern seats. I particularly appreciate the fact that the Railjet always has a dining car. First class is usually empty, unless the train is coming directly from Prague and travelling on to Graz. Another plus point are the Sparschiene booking options via the ÖBB website. If you book early enough, the tickets are very cheap. The equipment of the trains is very good, although not everything is perfect, the overall experience is very positive. The trains are usually on time, although there are exceptions. In our case, we were about 5 minutes late. I travelled on this train again just a few weeks ago and use it almost every month. All in all, a very recommendable connection.
Advantages
IconClean
IconPunctual
Disadvantages
IconBoring landscapes
My journey from Vienna to Graz was short and very pleasant. The journey took just under 1.5 hours. There were no delays during the journey and the train reached its destination on time. There was no really exciting scenery along the route, which is different on other routes along Styria. The service on board was good, the staff were very helpful. It was clean and hygienic on board.
Advantages
IconSimple booking
Disadvantages
IconDirty toilets
I really liked the simple and cheap online booking for the train ticket from Vienna to Graz, because I had no problems. I also liked the fact that I didn't have to change trains on the journey. The quick arrival was also a positive aspect. The good wifi enabled me to watch films throughout the journey. But what I didn't like about the journey was that the toilets were dirty.
Advantages
IconThe train is very hygienic
IconComfortable seats
IconFree wifi
Disadvantages
IconToilets very dirty
IconIt's very loud on the train
As always, the reservation was problem-free. I was able to reserve seat 16 in carriage 3 very easily. You just had to show your ticket to the conductor and you were on your way! As I travelled to Graz without any problems and without changing trains, I reached my destination in about 2.5 hours. The seats were very comfortable, but it was very noisy on the train due to some children. There was also free wifi and power sockets. The train was clean, except for the toilets. As always, the price-performance ratio is excellent!
Advantages
IconFavourable
Disadvantages
IconWeak wifi
The only thing that bothered me about the journey from wifi from wifi to Graz was that it wasn't so good, as it occasionally didn't work during the journey. Nevertheless, the journey was very good because I was able to book my ticket online very easily and very cheaply. What I liked best was that I didn't have to change trains during the journey and was able to reach my destination very quickly. The toilets were very clean.
Advantages
IconShort journey time
IconSeat reservation
IconPrice
Disadvantages
IconNo bistro
IconDelay
IconShort train
The ÖBB RJ arrived 20 minutes later than planned. So far so good, but it was also very short for the occupancy. I was glad that I had a separate seat reservation and was able to travel relaxed. It is a pity that there is no bistro on board, but you can know in advance and cater for yourself with food. The price is fair, considering that this is the most flexible offer.
Advantages
IconFast (only approx. 2¼ hours)
Disadvantages
IconAbout 20min delay
I took the RJ75 from Vienna Central Station to Graz Central Station on 2 August 2024 with the ÖBB Summer Ticket. The journey started at 12:58 in Vienna and ended at 15:39 in Graz. The journey took 2 hours and 41 minutes, which I find very short. The train was well equipped and the staff very friendly. The toilets were also clean. All in all, a very relaxing journey to the 2nd largest city in Austria.
Advantages
IconComfortable
IconNo stress
IconYou can sleep
Disadvantages
IconA little loud
IconTakes longer than by car
I had a pleasant train journey on the Railjet from Vienna to Graz. The journey took around 4 hours and was very comfortable overall. Thanks to my seat reservation, I was able to travel in comfort, although it was a little noisy in places on the train, which spoilt the experience a little. The Railjet runs every 2 hours, which is very convenient. The service on board was friendly and courteous, but I found the price a little high. All in all, a good journey, albeit with some minor drawbacks.
Advantages
IconPleasant temperatures on the train
IconFree wifi and power socket
IconClean train toilets
Disadvantages
IconArrival platform changed all the time (boarding)
IconSeveral sharp bends where the train travelled slowly (scary)
IconNo wifi and no network in the tunnel
On 7 August I travelled from Vienna Central Station to Graz Central Station on the RJ653. I boarded the train in Vienna at 11:58. I looked up the track where the train would stop 20 minutes before boarding. This then changed again and I didn't know exactly where I had to go. There are 6 intermediate stations on the route. You reach the first one after a few minutes and then it takes longer and longer to get to the next station. The train staff were nice and only checked my ticket. The toilet was clean and worked. The wifi and sockets also worked perfectly, except in the tunnel where the internet sometimes didn't work quite as well. The train journey took 2:41 hours and there were no delays. I was very satisfied.
Advantages
IconNo delays
IconClean wagons
IconBeautiful landscapes
Disadvantages
IconPoor wifi
I travelled from Vienna to Graz and was particularly impressed by the scenery along the route. The train was technically sophisticated and comfortable. I found it a little unfortunate that the wifi was constantly interrupted. Apart from that, I can say that the train set off on time and reached its destination without any delays.
Advantages
IconFast
IconReliable
IconClean
IconNice staff
Disadvantages
IconExpensive
Travelling by train in Austria is always a great experience, as was the journey from Vienna to Graz, the journey time was extremely short, even shorter than by car. The train arrived on time. Furthermore, the facilities and the toilet were very new and extremely clean. The staff are always very friendly and you can also order drinks and food. The only downside is the high price of the ticket.
