I travelled from Berlin to Cologne on ICE 858. It was very pleasant on board because of the air conditioning. The ergonomic and comfortable seats also contributed to the comfort of the journey. The train was in a clean and well-maintained condition. Unfortunately, the wifi was inactive that day. It would have been useful on this long journey. As far as I can remember, the train was on time for the entire journey.

IconThe heat on the train
The trip definitely had its pros and cons. The positives first: the seats on the train are extremely comfortable and the toilets were very clean, making the hot pleasant. The conductors were extremely polite and helpful, which made the whole experience positive. However, there were some challenges during the journey. The train was unfortunately more than 1 hour late, which was annoying and messed up my schedule. In addition, the train was quite crowded, which caused inconvenience as it was difficult to find a seat. The heat on the train that day was also unbearable, making the journey uncomfortable. However, a big advantage was that tickets could be bought in advance, which led to cheaper prices. Also, the train, had internet access and power sockets, which is very convenient for those who need to work or charge their devices. Overall, the journey from Berlin to Cologne was a mixed experience.

Disadvantages
Iconcould be cleaner
The journey from Berlin to Cologne was fine for the most part. It took place on ICE 858. The train was on time throughout. The air conditioning was working and provided a pleasant atmosphere. There was an on-board bistro where you could brighten up your journey with fresh coffee and snacks. Unfortunately, the interior was not completely clean. This could be improved.

The ICE 858 offers a fast and comfortable connection between Berlin and Cologne. It was pleasing that the train was on time throughout. It was also positive that the journey took less than 5 hours. The train was clean, well-maintained and the furnishings were modern. The seats were ergonomic and offered plenty of legroom. The on-board catering, the wifi stability and the quality of the announcements could be improved. Otherwise, I can recommend this trip.
Advantages
IconSufficient legroom in the seats
IconNice staff
Disadvantages
IconNothing
The staff were very helpful, patient and had tips on connecting trains. The range of journeys available each day are satisfactory. The trains and seats on them are comfortable and provide adequate legroom on busy journeys. I find the WCS to be hygienic. The train was also punctual, staff was nice.
Advantages
IconFast connection
Iconpleasant night ride
Disadvantages
Icona little uncomfortable to sleep
Last year I took the train from Berlin to Cologne at night and found the journey very pleasant. The train left on time and the journey went smoothly, so I arrived in Cologne at the scheduled time. The seats were very comfortable, just a little uncomfortable for sleeping at night. The toilets were also clean and the large luggage compartments also make for good stowage. All in all, I can only recommend this.
Advantages
IconPunctuality
IconClean
Disadvantages
IconChangeover
I travelled from Berlin to Cologne with IC 148 and IC 2044. I changed trains in Hanover. I had to wait there for 20 minutes, which was the only disadvantage. Otherwise it was a pleasant journey. Both trains were modern and technically up-to-date. On board there was cleanliness. The service was good, there was free wifi and power sockets. There were no delays on either train during the entire journey.
Advantages
IconVery fast connection
Disadvantages
IconAnother stop was added
As a regular traveller from Cologne to Berlin, I would like to share my positive experience with the rail connection. The route between the two cities is excellent. First of all, I would like to highlight the punctuality. In my numerous journeys, I have rarely experienced delays. The trains stick scrupulously to the timetable. This is especially important when you are travelling on business and have to meet deadlines. The journey time has been longer for some time because an additional stop has been added. For me, this is the only point of criticism, but it is certainly advantageous for the connection in general. Another plus point is the comfort of the trains. The seats are comfortable and offer enough space. The air conditioning ensures a pleasant temperature. What is also very important for me is that there is always wifi everywhere on the train, so I can work fantastically even when I am on the move. The train staff are always friendly and helpful. The cleanliness of the trains and especially the toilets must also be mentioned in a positive light. The train connection offers a reliable, comfortable and convenient travel option that I can highly recommend.
Advantages
IconPleasant ride
IconNice staff
Disadvantages
IconChange of departure time
IconNo booking in the app
The train journey from Berlin to Cologne unfortunately started with a delay in the departure time, which was not shown to me despite the DB app. Fortunately, I was able to switch to a later train thanks to my Flex-Ticket. This train had to take a diversion because of a roadworks. All in all, the journey was pleasant and the staff on the train were very friendly.
Advantages
Icongood wifi
Icontasty food
IconPunctuality
This was a great journey in second class, which I recommend as I have nothing to criticise. It was very clean on the train and also in the toilets. The staff were very nice to me and did a good job (good job). The food was relatively cheap and very tasty. On the train, the wifi was consistently good, although it was used by many. The seats were relatively comfortable and the volume on the train was very pleasant. The atmosphere was great and what's more, my train arrived on time. A great ride.
Advantages
IconQuiet
Disadvantages
IconNone
The journey was very calm and relaxed for me, it was very quiet and I was able to sleep for part of the journey. As I didn't have to change trains, it was even less stressful. The train was equipped with working wifi and charging facilities. The toilets were clean and usable. My favourite thing about the train was the value for money, especially if you arrive a little early.
Advantages
IconVery clean
IconNice staff
IconGood comfort
IconPunctual
Disadvantages
IconNo Internet
IconExpensive ticket
Berlin to Cologne by train is definitely an option worth recommending. The cleanliness of the whole train was great! The staff were very nice and fulfilled your every wish. The seats were very comfortable, padded and you had enough legroom. The train also arrived on time and travelled very quickly to Cologne without many stops. Unfortunately, only the expensive ticket and when I say expensive, I mean expensive and the poor internet was a problem, but these are both points that were still acceptable. Therefore, as I said, still recommendable.
