In 2006, TAP Air Portugal Group acquired a majority stake in PGA, making it a regional subsidiary. In 2016, the PGA Portugalia name was retired, and the airline was rebranded as TAP Express, with its fleet replaced by Embraer E190s and ATR 72-600s. As of 2022, PGA Portugalia Airlines was fully integrated into TAP Portugal.
