There are various public transportation options for travelers in Italy that want to journey between Siena and Rome. These include ride-share, rental car, bus and train travel. Since the cities are located fairly close to each other, air travel is not an option. Bus and train services are fast and affordable between the two cities. Journeys by bus or train are fast and comfortable taking about three hours on the bus and about 3 hours by rail. Bus travel is cheaper than travelling on the train.

Megabus, Flixbus, Baltour and Simet all offer buses from Siena and Rome. There are direct buses between the cities that take about 3 hours to arrive in Rome. Buses depart from Piazza Carlo Roselli in Siena and arrive at Rome Tiburtina Piazzale, Mazzoni. The direct buses are available in the mornings, afternoons and evenings and run throughout the day.
There are numerous trains from Siena and Rome operated by Trenitalia departing everyday. These are 1-change trips that depart from Siena and arrive at Rome Termini or Tiburtina stations. These trains run in the mornings, afternoons and evenings and change at Chiusi. If you have plenty of luggage you may choose to opt for the bus journey instead. These are high speed trains which are comfortable and luxurious for commuters. Train journeys between the cities take about 3 hours to complete.
