A huge student population makes Oxford a lively and vibrant place to visit. Flights to Oxford
Oxford is around 100 km away from both London Heathrow and Birmingham airports by following the M40 in opposite directions. Slightly further away are London Gatwick, Luton and Stanstead airport. All have coach links to the city with National Express Coaches, the Oxford Bus Company and The Airline service. All major airlines serve one or more of these airports.
Trains to Oxford
Oxford's main train station is located in the center of the city, with local bus links around the town and to villages on the outskirts. First Great Western, CrossCountry Rail and Chiltern Railways all provide services to and from Reading. There are direct links with London Paddington, Reading, Worcester, Manchester, Southampton and Birmingham as well as local suburban stations.

Buses arrive in the city at the Gloucester Green Bus Station. National Express Coaches, Oxford Tube, OxfordBus Company, Megabus, Stagecoach and the X5 Bus all bring visitors from the London airports, London Victoria, Cambridge and other major towns around the UK.

The Oxford Bus Company and Stagecoach operate local routes from the rail station, St Giles and St Aldates. There are many taxi ranks throughout the city. Much of the center is pedestrianized and the majority of students cycle around Oxford, sharing the city center with pedestrians. Other roads have cycle lanes and there are many bike parks available. Driving into central Oxford is not advisable as streets are narrow, with confusing one-way systems and parking spaces are heavily restricted. There is a large multi-storey car park to the south of the city as well as five park and rides around the periphery of town.
