The train journey from Zurich to Chur, with trains IC 562, IR 1134 and RE 1823, was very good by far. The trains were new and clean and with comfortable seats, with enough room for many people. The internet service was free and the Wi-Fi was pretty reliable, which made the long journey of 6 hours and 42 minutes very bearable. The views of the Swiss countryside, especially the beautiful Alpine panoramas, were simply breathtaking. The only downside was that there was a slight disruption to the flow of the journey due to passengers having to make two changes at Winterthur and Landquart. This would have been less ideal with a lot of luggage, but it was still bearable for a straightforward journey. Overall, this was a very good connection with a high comfort level and a great view, provided you are prepared to tolerate the longer than average duration and the changes.
Advantages
IconShort journey time without changing trains
IconNo delay
IconFriendly staff
IconSockets available
IconClean toilets
IconPleasant atmosphere
Disadvantages
IconNo wifi
IconDirty seats
I travelled from Zurich to Chur in about an hour and 30 minutes without changing trains. And the train wasn't late. In my opinion, it was a bit too dirty on the train. The seats in particular could have been cleaner. The train was also relatively old, so it only had power sockets and no wifi. The staff were friendly and the toilets looked clean. In addition, the train was not very busy, so there was a pleasant atmosphere. All in all, a pleasant journey!
Advantages
IconFriendly staff
IconWithout changeover
IconGood seating comfort with good equipment
IconCleanliness and hygiene
Disadvantages
IconDelay of 25 minutes
IconNo announcements available
On the journey from Zurich to Chur, I was lucky not to have to change trains, as the train was 25 minutes late. However, the train was not very busy, so it was relatively quiet and relaxing. The seats were also very comfortable and there were plenty of power sockets and wifi. The cleanliness of the train was acceptable and the toilets looked hygienic. Unfortunately, there were no announcements on the train, so you had to pay attention to the displays. The staff were friendly and apologised for the delay and personally asked about connections.
Advantages
IconFriendly staff
IconNo delays and no changes
IconShort journey duration
IconCleanliness and hygiene very good
IconWifi worked
Disadvantages
IconHigh utilisation and high volume
IconDefective sockets
The train from Zurich to Chur was very full, so I couldn't relax as it was very noisy in the passenger compartment. In addition, the sockets didn't work, which is why the staff apologised to me. Otherwise, the seats were very comfortable and I was able to connect to the wifi. It was very clean and the toilets were hygienic. The journey time was relatively short as I took a fast train. Also, the train wasn't delayed and I didn't have to change trains, which made the journey more comfortable.
