How to get to Doncaster by Train
Located just outside the city centre of Doncaster, the train station for this Yorkshire town provides services along the East Coast Main Line and to the north west of England from a variety of operators. East Coast manage the station and operate the majority of services to Doncaster, including those from London Kings Cross, York, Newcastle and Edinburgh; other services operated by East Coast run from Birmingham New Street, which allows connections from cities on the West Coast and Wales. Although, the majority of services are offered by East Coast, Doncaster is linked to the international airport at Manchester by a TransPennine Express service operating daily, which also run from the eastern town of Cleethorpes. Arriving in Doncaster by train is also possible through the use of First Hull services from London Kings Cross and Hull. Northern Rail also offer a number of services to Doncaster, which include trains from the towns and cities of Leeds, Scunthorpe and Sheffield.

One of the most important towns n the history of the north of England, Doncaster and the surrounding area have a large number of attractions and historic sites that are open to the public throughout the year. Conisbrough Castle was built in the 12th century and is still largely intact, open to the public, this castle gives a glimpse into medieval life. Visitors will want to head to the Lakeside development in the city centre, which houses a large number of locally owned and nationally recognised shops in a small area of the city. In the same area sits the stadium used by Doncaster Rovers FC, which is part of a rich sporting heritage in the town. Sports fans can explore Doncaster Racecourse, which holds some of the most important races on the British horse racing calendar.
