Museum of Asian Art of Corfu
Housed in the Palace of St Michael and St George, this is Greece’s only museum dedicated to Asian art, with notable collections from China, Japan and India.
Flying to Corfu makes a lot of sense for visitors from North America and the rest of the world. There are regular connections to Corfu from Athens, as well as numerous major European airports, and journey times are rarely long. Flights also arrive at a conveniently located airport, within easy reach of the island's main resorts and attractive capital.
Planes to Corfu will only touch down in one place: Corfu Ioannis Kapositrias Airport. The airport is located on the eastern coast of the island, not far from Corfu Town. Buses are available to the center of town, where travelers can catch trains or further buses to destinations. Expect transfers to take 15-20 minutes by bus, and slightly less time if taxis are involved.
Flights from Athens to Corfu are provided by Olympic and Hahn Air Systems. International connections are also plentiful, with services on offer from easyJet, Ryanair, Jet2, TUI, Eurowings, and Thomas Cook. It won't be hard to find flights that connect Corfu with airports that receive transatlantic flights.
Flying is an excellent way to reach the beaches of Corfu, and there's no shortage of reasons to fly. For starters, the only alternative is to take coaches from Athens, then take boats from Igoumenitsa - a much more time-consuming option. By taking flights to Corfu, travelers from the USA can touch down in Athens (or many other European entry points), enjoy a brief stopover if desired, then continue their journey to the island. It's comfortable, fast, and convenient, with easy transfers to all parts of the island upon arrival.
Corfu has a good bus service, which runs from the capital to all of the island's biggest resorts and offers very affordable fares. Car hire is also available from the island's airport, which may well be a more appealing option for visitors. In any case, there's a lot to see. The capital plays host to the beautiful 16th-century church of St Spyridon and the ancient fortress that has repelled countless invaders. Outside the city, the island-bound Vlacherna Monastery is a highlight, as are the mysterious ruins at the abandoned village of Perithia. So get out and explore: it's a fascinating island.
