The quickest way to travel from Paris to Bayeux is by train, with journey times of between 2 and 2.5 hours, while travelling by bus can take up to 3.5 hours. The distance between the two cities is too close to make the journey by plane. Bayeux is a small historic town, with cobbled streets that are easily explored on foot. The bus route is operated by Ouibus, a subsidiary of the French state railway, SNCF. Buses leave from La Defense, a major business district to the West of Paris, which is linked to the city center by Metro.
SNCF Intercity trains from Paris to Bayeux travel seven days a week. 3 departures are direct, taking around 2 hours, while another 3 services involve a connection at Caen, giving an overall journey time of about 3.5 hours. Departures start at around 7:00 a.m. and continue until just after 3:00 p.m. Trains leave from Gare Sant-Lazare, one of the city's mainline stations, which is conveniently located close to major tourist attractions in the center of Paris. Bayeux Station is within walking distance of the city's historic attractions.
