Port Of Procida, Procida -> Marina Grande, Procida
Procida is the beautiful little sister of Capri and Ischia, and getting there from Naples by ferry is easy. Snav and Caremar cover the 23-mile distance in 40-60 minutes and there are as many as 18 ferries and hydrofoils to choose from every day. Travelers can expect more frequent departures during the afternoon, although early morning slots are available too. Vehicles are not permitted on high-speed hydrofoils, although bikes are allowed for a small supplementary fee. Vehicles can be taken on larger boats, however given the size of Procida, this means that this is not usually necessary.
There should be 4 ferries from Naples to Procida on any given date. The earliest boat leaves Naples Molo Beverello at 8:25 a.m., and after that there's a lunchtime departure, one in mid-afternoon, and a final evening service which leaves at 7:00 p.m. Both the morning and evening boats tend to be used by commuters during the week, meaning that they are often a more crowded option, and booking ahead may be required. Hydrofoil journeys with Snav and Caremar take around 30-40 minutes at most, while Caremar ferries can last up to an hour. Expect prices to vary, with higher fares on fast hydrofoils and extra fees for bikes and vehicles.
Be aware that ferries from Naples to Procida have two departure points: Molo Beverello and Porta di Massa. Both have a central location and can be reached from the main station and Capodichino Airport via the Alibus service. Municipio metro station is the closest to Beverello, which is the departure point for the faster hydrofoils service. Università is the best stop for Porta di Massa, which is only served by the slower standard ferries. In both cases, it's about a 10-minute walk to the dock. For those with vehicles, parking is available at Beverello, while private garages operate next to Porta di Massa, and both ports have restrooms and places to stock up on refreshments. In terms of numbers, Porta di Massa handles 7 slower ferries every day, while up to 12 hydrofoils leave Beverello, so there's plenty of choice no matter which port travelers use.
