The fastest way to travel from the Croatian city of Split to its coastal neighbor, Dubrovnik is via an indirect plane service. There are no train journeys to Dubrovnik making bus travel the cheapest and most popular mode of transport from Split.
Coach travel from Split is the most popular way to reach Dubrovnik. Travel time is approximately 4.5 hours making it faster than many of the indirect flight options available. There are 14 coach services a day from Split, which are provided by a number of bus companies including Croatia Bus, Cazmatrans, Autotrans and Promet. Coaches depart from Split Bus Station which is located right in the city centre close to the main railway station and harbour. Coaches arrive in Dubrovnik Bus Station in Kantafig, 2 kilometres north of the Old Town. The bus journey runs along the beautiful coast but involves going through Bosnia & Herzegovina border control which can increase journey time by up to two hours.
There are no direct flights options between the two cities, however passengers can make a stopover in Zagreb with a total journey time starting at as little as 2 hours but with an average journey time of between 5 and 8 hours. Air travel is provided by Croatia Airlines with a choice of between 2 and 5 indirect journeys per day.
