Best Time to Visit Dubrovnik

The best time to visit the city of Dubrovnik is between September and October. The temperatures are still in the 70s, and water is still warm enough to swim. Take a light jacket, as the evening breeze from the water can be chilly. Between June and August, the temperatures are in the 80s, but the city is crowded as there are cruise ships in the port on a daily basis. The Dubrovnik Summer Festival takes place in July and August for those willing to brave the crowds. The festival features live music events, theatrical performances, and parades through the city center. Between September and October, foodies can enjoy the Dubrovnik Food Festival that shows off the best cuisine in Croatia over a weekend of delicious indulgence. The fall season is when the grape and olive harvests take place, making this the perfect time of the year to taste the years produce. Those that enjoy tasting wine should time their visit for April, when the annual Dubrovnik Festiwine takes place. The event showcases the best wines in Croatia over a fun-filled week that includes live music and entertainment.  A number of hotels and restaurants close over the winter months in Dubrovnik.
