La Spezia is a port city on Italy's Gulf of Liguria, and it is well connected to the historic and beautiful city of Florence. The two cities are just 150 kilometers apart, so flying really isn't an option. Instead, travelers in Italy can choose between car shares, indirect buses and much faster direct trains. If you book the right express train, the journey to Florence can take as little as 2 hours.
Return trips from Florence to La Spezia are also available.
Trains from La Spezia to Florence are easily the best and fastest way to travel between these two cities. Regular direct trains are provided by Trenitalia, and they take between 2 hours and 2 hours 30 minutes to complete the journey. Look for a Frecciabianca service for the fastest connection. Trains depart all day long, with the first service leaving La Spezia Centrale at 4:45 a.m. and the final train of the day leaving at 9:23 p.m. Not all service travel direct, so check before you book if you are in a hurry. Otherwise, there are plenty of options that include a short stop in Pisa - which could be ideal for sight seeing.
