The journey time is approximately 2 hours. Buses depart from central Girona and arrive at Barcelona Nord Station. Although there are local buses in Girona the city is heavily pedestrianized and made up of hilly, cobbled streets making exploring on foot the easiest option. Barcelona Nord Bus Station is just over a kilometer from the city center and on Metro line 1 as well as being served by suburban trains, taxis and local buses.
High-speed Renfe AVE trains from Girona to Barcelona travel between the two cities up to 19 times a day, with a journey time of less than 1 hour. Departures from Girona Station commence just before 7:00 a.m. and continue until just after 9:00 p.m. The station is just 1 kilometer South West of the city's historical heart and linked to the town by local buses and taxis. Trains arrive at Barcelona Sants Station, a large concourse in the South West of the city. It is part of Barcelona's extensive and efficient public transport network of trams, buses and Metro. The city also has night bus routes while taxis are available at both Girona and Barcelona stations.
