Anyone who wants to travel in Italy from Bologna to Venice can choose between regular bus and train connections. Flying isn't really a practical option, given that the two cities are only around 200 kilometers apart, and the train can take as little as 1 hour 25 minutes in any case. Both buses and trains take a couple of hours, arriving in central locations that allow visitors rapid access to Venice's architectural and artistic treasures.

Catching the bus is a great way to travel from Bologna to Venice. Plenty of different companies run buses from Bologna to Venice including Baltour and Flixbus, with a total journey time of 2 hours 15 minutes. The first bus of the day departs from Bologna's main bus station at 10:00 a.m., getting to Venice just after midday. Aside from that, there is also an 11:30 a.m. bus and a final departure at 7:25 p.m. All buses get into Tronchetto bus station, not far from the center of Venice.
Trains from Bologna to Venice are probably last approximately 2 hours and are the easiest way to travel between these two cities. Trenitalia and Italo both run trains along the Bologna-Venice route, but be aware that there is a significant difference between regional services and express trains. Services are extremely frequent, starting at 6:20 a.m. and finishing as late as 3:18 a.m. - so there should always be a suitable departure time for your schedule. All trains arrive at the centrally located Santa Lucia station, close to most Venetian hotels.
