Advantages
IconClean passenger compartment and toilets
IconSnack machine available
IconSufficient equipment
Disadvantages
IconTrain was very well utilised
IconHigh volume
IconNo ticket inspection
The train had been extremely full on this journey. That's why it was delayed by 15 minutes. Unfortunately, I couldn't get a seat and had to stand for about 45 minutes. It was also very noisy and there was no ticket inspection. However, the train was very clean and the toilets in particular looked very hygienic. Internet and power sockets were available. There was also a snack vending machine on the train, which was well stocked. Apart from that, there was no need to change trains on the journey. Overall, I didn't find the journey comfortable, which is why I can only give it 2 stars.
Advantages
IconPunctuality
IconCleanliness
Disadvantages
IconOften overcrowded at peak times
IconToo few security personnel
The underground trains between Norderstedt and Hamburg are almost always punctual and reliable. The journey time to Hamburg (city centre) is approx. 35-40 minutes. You don't have to change trains. The trains are usually very clean and well maintained. There are no toilets, which is normal for underground trains. At rush hour (when the trains are very full) there is a metro every five minutes, at normal times every ten minutes (average capacity). The price for the journey is okay. Unfortunately, the seats are quite hard and uncomfortable. There is no wifi on the underground in Hamburg. In the modern trains there are at least power sockets. You shouldn't expect too much from an underground train in this respect. It would also be desirable if the underground security staff were present on the trains more often. In general, the Hamburg underground is highly recommended.
