    IconWaste disposal
    IconToilet hygiene
We weren't sure where to go on holiday last holiday and Sylt was suggested to us. So we took the train to the district of Westerland. I was very happy with the wifi this time and especially the good comfort. Booking the ticket was very easy this time. Unfortunately, the staff didn't seem to be in such a good mood that day. The waste disposal also seemed to be a long time coming and the toilet hygiene still needs to be improved.

    Disadvantages
    IconToilet unhygienic
    IconToilet paper was missing
The journey to Westerland was very relaxing. There was a vending machine in the middle of the train so I could buy something as a snack. However, the toilets on the train were unhygienic and lacked toilet paper. Otherwise, there was nothing to complain about. The rest had been fine.

Overall, I found this train journey very enjoyable as there was a lot to do, you were greeted in a very friendly way and made to feel welcome. In addition, the umpteen staff were very nice and helpful. A really pleasant journey. In between it got a bit noisy as the windows had to be opened.
    Advantages
    IconPunctuality
    IconComfortable seats and good equipment
    IconCleanliness
    Disadvantages
    IconNo staff
I can only recommend the journey from Niebüll to Westerland. The train departed and arrived on time. The train was relatively empty and very clean, and the seats were also very comfortable. I also liked the fact that there was a snack vending machine on the train, which was well stocked. There was plenty of wifi and power sockets and the toilets were all clean and in good working order. I didn't have to change trains on this journey. Unfortunately, there was no staff here, which is why there was no ticket inspection and manual announcements for connections, for example, were not made. Otherwise, a journey that can be recommended to everyone!
    Advantages
    IconEnough capacity
    IconWifi, sockets
    IconClean train
    Disadvantages
    IconNo more restaurant
The Intercity offered enough capacity for all travellers. The train's capacity utilisation was low, which is why the noise level was also low. It would have been possible to reserve my seat. The entire train was very clean and hygienic. The wifi and power sockets were fully functional. Sockets can be found at every seat. In addition, every Intercity carriage has a WC. The train crew were very friendly and helpful. The train was not delayed. I didn't have to change trains between Niebüll and Westerland and it took me about 35 minutes to complete the journey. Unfortunately, Intercity trains have not had a restaurant since December 2023. There is a small temporary snack point, but this is by no means an alternative.
    Advantages
    IconClean train
    IconFriendly staff
    Disadvantages
    IconLittle legroom in the seats
The wifi and power sockets worked perfectly, which made the journey pleasant. The train journey was characterised by a punctual departure and arrival. The seats were comfortable, but there was little legroom. On shorter journeys like this one, however, this is not particularly bad. The cleanliness of the train was also satisfactory. The staff were friendly and helpful.

    Sylt Shuttle Plus

    About
Sylt Shuttle Plus was a unique passenger train service operated by Deutsche Bahn (DB) that connected Niebüll and Westerland on the island of Sylt, Germany. Unlike the primary Sylt Shuttle, which transports vehicles, the "Plus" service was designed for passengers without cars. It involved coupling a Class 628 diesel multiple unit to the rear of the car shuttle train. Introduced in 2015, the Sylt Shuttle Plus gained notoriety for its often-empty carriages and longer travel times compared to regional trains, leading to its nickname "ghost train." The service was discontinued in December 2024.
