Advantages
IconInternet
IconQuiet ride
IconGood value
Disadvantages
IconRubbish bins overflow
IconToilet hygiene
IconDelay
After a visit to Sylt in Westerland it was back to Niebüll and I was really surprised by the internet and the quiet ride. However, it bothers me that the rubbish bins are not emptied often enough. The toilets could definitely be cleaned more often. I was also particularly bothered by the fact that the train was almost half an hour late, causing stress. Nevertheless, I think the price-performance ratio is good.
Advantages
IconEnough free seats
IconNice staff
IconPunctual
Disadvantages
IconNo barrier-free access
The train journey from Westerland to Niebüll was very pleasant. The train was very empty and had enough free seats. It would not have been possible to reserve my seat or any other seats. As always, the staff were very nice and courteous. The train was very punctual. The seats were also very comfortable and quite wide. The toilet worked and, like the rest of the train, was very clean. There was no need to change trains between Westerland and Niebüll. The journey took about an hour. There was no wifi or power sockets on the train. Unfortunately, the train did not have barrier-free boarding.
Advantages
IconComfortable seats
Disadvantages
IconExcessive prices in the on-board restaurant
The train journey was a pleasant experience. The seats were comfortable, the staff courteous and the train reliably kept to the timetable. The view during the journey was also appealing, and the on-board catering met expectations. It was satisfactory, but a little overpriced. In addition, the cleanliness of the train's interior contributed to a positive overall impression. All in all, an acceptable train journey.

Sylt Shuttle Plus

About
Sylt Shuttle Plus was a unique passenger train service operated by Deutsche Bahn (DB) that connected Niebüll and Westerland on the island of Sylt, Germany. Unlike the primary Sylt Shuttle, which transports vehicles, the "Plus" service was designed for passengers without cars. It involved coupling a Class 628 diesel multiple unit to the rear of the car shuttle train. Introduced in 2015, the Sylt Shuttle Plus gained notoriety for its often-empty carriages and longer travel times compared to regional trains, leading to its nickname "ghost train." The service was discontinued in December 2024.
