The time of the ICE on this route cannot be beaten by a car at around 40 minutes, which is why the train journey is very worthwhile on this connection, even if it is relatively expensive compared to the car journey for this route. On my journey, the train was clean and left on time and arrived in Erfurt on time. However, due to the high speeds, internet reception via the ICE wifi was somewhat unstable and it was relatively crowded on the train.
