The most convenient and widely used option is the Thunderbird limited express (Thunderbird Express), operated by JR West, which departs from Kanazawa Station (1-1 Kinoshinbocho, Kanazawa, Ishikawa 920-0858) and arrives at Osaka Station or Shin-Osaka Station, depending on the service. The journey takes between 2 hours 15 minutes and 2 hours 30 minutes, making it one of the fastest and most comfortable land connections between the two cities.
Since the March 2024 extension of the Hokuriku Shinkansen from Kanazawa to Tsuruga, travelers now have an additional option: combining a Shinkansen leg to Tsuruga and then switching to the Thunderbird limited express toward Osaka. However, the direct Thunderbird service from Kanazawa remains a popular and straightforward choice, with multiple daily departures throughout the day, typically running from early morning to late evening.
