Due to its location in the heart of the Midlands, Nottingham is well served by a network of buses and buses. Just 6 miles off the M1 motorway, one of the country's main transport arteries, there are plenty of buses to Nottingham from most parts of the country. National Express operates at least 12 direct services a day running from London to Nottingham, and a frequent and fast service operates from major cities including Cambridge, Cardiff, Glasgow, Liverpool, Leicester, Manchester and Newcastle.

In 2010, Nottingham was described as being the city with the lowest car dependency in the UK. As such, the local bus network is both efficient and well-thought out. The majority of local buses are run by Nottingham City Transport (NCT), with some local inner-city services and nearby inter-city services, such as to Beeston, Derby and Mansfield, being run by Trent Barton.

Major Bus Stations in Nottingham

Most long-distance buses to Nottingham arrive at Broadmarsh bus station. Next to the shopping center of the same name, Broadmarsh is located right in the city center, along Canal Street. From there the city center is just a short walk away, as is the main railway station which is well served by local buses.

Victoria bus station is Nottingham's other major station in Nottingham. Located in the northern part of the center, it's easily accessible by local bus, and is around 1 mile from the main train station.
