Hentian Duta Step by Step Station Guide
The Hentian Duta Bus Terminal is one of Kuala Lumpur’s main long-distance bus stations. It mainly serves express buses heading north to cities such as Ipoh, Penang, Alor Setar, and even the Thai border, making it a convenient departure point for travelers heading to northern Malaysia.
The terminal is more compact compared to KL Sentral or TBS, but it is well-organized with ticket counters, waiting halls, and food stalls. Read on for our step-by-step guide on how to use the Hentian Duta Bus Terminal to start your journey north.
Getting to Hentian Duta
Hentian Duta is located along Jalan Duta, not far from the North–South Expressway.

The entrance to the station’s car park is situated opposite the Jabatan Pendidikan building.

At the rear of the station, where buses enter, you will also find one of the entry points to Stadium Hoki Tun Razak.

Entrance at Hentian Duta
Upon entering the Main Lobby, you will see an entryway on your left with clear signage directing you to the waiting hall and ticket counter.

Station Layout
There is only one level in the main station building.

It consists of the main lobby, boarding area, ticketing counters, and a taxi stand. Adjacent to the building on the same level, there is also a row of food stalls.

Amenities at the station include:
- Food stalls
- Convenience stalls
- Restrooms
- Surau
- Car park

Ticketing and Boarding
From the entrance of the main lobby, walk straight for about 20 meters, passing a row of convenience stalls on your right. The main ticketing counter, staffed by station personnel, is located to the side of the main lobby, with several self-service kiosks positioned to its left.

Scan your ticket at the validation machines to access the boarding area.

The boarding area is directly beyond the ticket validation point.

Wait here until your bus is scheduled to depart, and pay attention to the announcements, which will let you know when it is time to board.

Exit and Taxi Stand
The exit is located directly in front of the bus platforms.

If you wish to return to the main building, do not go through the exit doorway; instead, turn right, walk straight for about 30 meters to the open area, head towards the Surau, then turn left into a short pathway leading back inside.

Keep walking along the walkway until you reach the Main Lobby. The pathway merges with the tiled walkway along the side of the building.

There is only one taxi stand at the station, located directly in front of the main building beneath the yellow “Hentian Duta” signage.
