About
PGA-Portugalia Airlines, also known as PGA, was a regional airline based in Lisbon, Portugal, established in 1988. It began operations in 1990 with an inaugural flight from Lisbon to Porto, initially focusing on domestic routes and limited international charters. PGA expanded its network to include scheduled international flights across Europe and North Africa, serving countries like France, Germany, Italy, Morocco, and Spain. Renowned for its high levels of service, PGA received numerous awards, including "Best European Regional Airline." In 2006, TAP Air Portugal Group acquired a majority stake in PGA, making it a regional subsidiary. In 2016, the PGA Portugalia name was retired, and the airline was rebranded as TAP Express, with its fleet replaced by Embraer E190s and ATR 72-600s. As of 2022, PGA Portugalia Airlines was fully integrated into TAP Portugal.
