Carriers offering free transportation for Ukrainian nationals

The following European providers are offering free transportation to Ukrainian nationals from the following countries.

Austria

OeBB is offering free travel within, and to, Austria for both Ukrainian citizens and Ukrainian residency permit holders. More information can be found here (Ukrainian).

Belgium

Eurostar offers free travel to Ukrainian nations who hold a valid passport and visa to enter the UK. Tickets are available at Paris Nord, Brussels-Midi, Lille Europe, or Amsterdam Central; please talk to a member of staff. More details can be found here (English, French, Dutch and Belgian).

Belgian train provider SNCB/NMBS offers free travel by train inside of, to, and from Belgium for anyone able to present a Ukrainian passport, ID-card or residence permit AND the "helpukraine" ticket issued by Deutsche Bahn. More information here (Belgian, French, German, English).

International high-speed train operator Thalys offers free travel to Ukrainians on all their services (in France, Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands. More information here (English).

Czech Republic

Since 24 February 2022, Ukrainian citizens with valid Ukrainian passports can travel for free in the Czech Republic with Czech Railways. More information can be found here (Polish, Ukrainian and English).

RegioJet, in co-operation with Ukrzaliznytsia, is running a daily train from Kyiv to Lviv and then onwards as a night train from Przemyśl to Prague with stops in Ostrava, Olomouc and Pardubice. Denmark

Danish train provider DSB offers free travel both within and to and from Denmark for Ukrainian citizens and residents. More information here (Danish).

Finland

VR Group is providing free travel via both train and bus to Ukrainian citizens and residency permit holders. Additionally, they are providing free travel out of Russia for Russians wishing to flee. More information here (Swedish, Finnish, English).

Onnibus offers free travel to Ukrainian citizens within Finland. A reservation must be made in advance via customer service. More information here (Finnish).

Finnair offers special fares (95% discount) on one-way flights from select cities in Eastern Europe to help those Ukrainians looking to escape the conflict. The discount is available with the code Ukraine95 throughout March. More information here (English).

France

Eurostar offers free travel to Ukrainian nations who hold a valid passport and visa to enter the UK. Tickets are available at Paris Nord, Brussels-Midi, Lille Europe, or Amsterdam Central; please talk to a member of staff. More details can be found here (English, French, Dutch and Belgian).

SNCF is offering free travel within, and to, France on any TGV or SNCF operated train for both Ukrainian citizens and Ukrainian residency permit holders. More information can be found here (French).

Germany

Deutsche Bahn is offering free rides to Ukrainian citizens from Poland to Germany. More information can be found here (English, Ukrainian and German). Read the official press release here (German).

Deutsche Bahn is also providing free travel to Ukrainian citizens already in Germany between the cities of Berlin, Dresden, Nuremberg and Munich without a ticket (valid id is required). There's an additional free ticket for onwards travel in Germany ("helpukraine") that can be obtained from a DB Reisezentrum (DB Travel Centre) or at a DB agency. VBB (Verkehrsverbund Berlin-Brandenburg) is offering free travel to Ukrainian passport holders in Berlin and Brandenburg (trains, buses, trams) until the 31 March. This includes the use of BVG transport. More information here (German).

HVV (Hamburg) is providing free travel on local buses, trains and trams for anyone escaping Ukraine. More information here (German).

In Germany, Länderbahn (a Trenitalia subsidiary) will offer free travel to Ukraine citizens with proof of an ID card or passport. These trains will also run cross-border from Poland and the Czech Republic. More information here (Italian).

Hungary

Wizz Air offers 100,000 free seats for Ukrainians on all continental Europe flights departing from Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, and Romania until the end of March. The airline has also added more flights and larger planes. More information is available here.

MÁV-csoport (the Hungarian state railway) offers free travel within Hungary on all MÁV-START és a GYSEV to all Ukrainian citizens, residents or those with official refugee status. Tickets must be obtained before boarding the train (collect from station kisoks using valid ID). More information here (English, Hungarian, German).

DPA Bratislava offers free travel on buses and trains operated by DPB, IDS BK and ARRIVA Mobility Solutions. A valid Ukrainian passport or ID card is required. More information here (English, Ukrainian).

Italy

Marino Bus offers free long-distance bus journeys to Ukrainian citizens for all routes in Italy. To claim the ticket, you must contact customer service at +39 0803112335. More information here (Italian).

Lithuania

Ukrainian citizens can travel using trains run by LTG Link in Lithuania free of charge with the presentation of a Ukrainian passport or identity card. More information here (English, Lithuanian, Russian, Polish, Mandarin).

Ireland

Expressway and Bus Éireann are offering free bus travel for Ukrainain citizens with either a Ukrainian ID, evidence of arrival in Ireland within the previous seven days, or confirmation from a coordinating group / charity. More information here (English).

Luxembourg

Netherlands

Dutch rail operator NS offers free travel within, and to, the Netherlands for both Ukrainian citizens and residency permit holders. More information here (Dutch).

Poland

From now until 25 March 2022, Ukrainian nationals with a valid Ukrainian passport or government ID can travel for free with PKP Intercity. More information can be found here (Polish).

Ukrainian citizens can travel free of charge on REGIO and interREGIO trains (by POLREGIO) with an identity document. CFR Călători is providing free travel on public transport within Romania. "Help Ukraine" tickets must be obtained from ticket offices in stations or at CFR Călători travel agencies; a valid identity document and confirmation of entry into Romania. More information here (English, Ukrainian).

Slovakia

ZSSK offers free travel on any ZSSK train with or without a ticket for anyone able to present a Ukrainian passport or ID-card. More information here (Slovak).

Spain

From 3 March, Renfe is offering free train travel to all Ukrainian passport holders to destinations in France or Spain from Barcelona (the main arrival hub in Spain). Tickets can be claimed at all points of sale in the station with valid id. More information here (Catalan).

Sweden

SL in Stockholm offers free travel on the subway and buses for all those carrying a Ukrainian passport, ID-card or driver's license. More information here (English, Ukrainian, Swedish).

Stena Line Ferry is offering free transport to Ukrainian citizens, and registered charity and humanitarian workers. More information here (English).

Switzerland

Swiss Federal Railways SBB Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) is offering free long-distance train journeys to Ukrainian refugees both from the border to a certain destination in Switzerland or to cross the country by train. More information here (Italian).

United Kingdom

National Rail is offering free onward travel on all trains in England, Scotland and Wales with a valid Ukrainian passport and a boarding pass or ticket showing arrival into the UK. Ukrainians arriving in the UK have 48 hours from arrival to complete their journey. Free travel in London on TfL's London Underground, Docklands Light Railway (DLR), bus and tram services are also included. More information here (English).
