Traveling in Spain from Madrid to Salamanca is simple, allowing tourists to explore one of Spain's most beautiful Baroque cities. By catching a train or bus in the morning, you can give yourself plenty of time to see the palaces and churches of the city. If speed is important, catching the train can take as little as 90 minutes, but coaches take only 3 hours to make the trip.

Daily buses from Madrid to Salamanca are offered by Avanza and depart from Madrid's Sur bus station and arrive at Avenida Filiberto Villalobos in Salamanca after 3 hours of travel time. The first bus leaves at 7:00 a.m. and then there is at least one service per hour until 10:30 p.m. if you take the bus, be aware that you will need to get to the bus station, which is in the northern suburbs. The best way to reach it is taking the metro to Cartagena or Avenida de America.
Express trains from Madrid to Salamanca are offered by Renfe and depart from Madrid's Atocha station 3 times per day. Traveling from Madrid to Salamanca by train takes 1 hour and 36 minutes. There are also regional Renfe trains that depart more frequently, but be warned that they take 3 hours - almost doubling the journey time. However, regional trains depart as early as 7:33 a.m., so they allow you to reach Salamanca in late-morning - a great time for sight-seeing and checking into hotels.
