About Lugano

How to Get to Lugano

Flights to Lugano

Lugano Airport is only 4 kilometres away from the city centre, so if you travel to Lugano by plane, you can be at your hotel in a matter of minutes. Buses to major hotels and the city centre are provided by Shuttle Bus Sagl and will be available to meet all arrivals. There are also plenty of taxis on offer just outside the arrivals terminal. Airlines servicing Lugano include Etihad and Swiss Air.

Trains to Lugano

If you travel to Lugano by train, you can have the pleasure of letting the Alpine scenery unfold along the Gotthard Line. The station itself lies in the western part of Lugano, although local buses stop right outside the station building and will take passengers to their hotels in no time. Companies using Lugano station include Swiss Federal Railways and Lugano–Ponte Tresa railway.

Buses to Lugano

Lugano is on the Eurolines bus network, so bus travel to Lugano will be an option for anyone who wants to visit. The city is connected to Munich to the north and Milan to the south, while Express Bus connects Lugano to regional Swiss cities like Zurich and Berne. Coaches arrive at Via Basilea, which is just to the north of the railway station. From there, local buses travel into the centre of town.
