Itapemirim
About
Itapemirim was a Brazilian passenger road transport company founded on July 4, 1953, in Cachoeiro de Itapemirim, Espírito Santo, Brazil. It grew to become the largest road passenger transport business in Brazil and Latin America, at one point dominating 70% of Brazilian territory with 1,700 buses and operating in 10 countries. The company was known for its focus on passenger comfort, reliability, and punctuality. However, Itapemirim faced significant financial difficulties and controversies, including the diversion of funds to create an airline, ITA Transportes Aéreos, which operated for only six months in 2021. The company was declared bankrupt on September 21, 2022. Currently, the bus lines are being operated under a lease agreement by Suzantur, as Nova Itapemirim.
