There are no direct services between Norwich and Leeds and the different routes can involve varying amounts of travel time. Most days, there is one fast bus that switches at St Margaret's station, Leicester. Journeys through London take at least two hours longer and there are also a couple of services every day that call upon passengers to change twice en route.
National Express is the only company currently operating buses along this route.
The length of the journey depends upon where passengers change buses along the way. The shortest route is around seven hours 25 minutes and takes passengers through Leicester. Most services, however, swap buses at Victoria, leading to travel times of eight to nine hours. There's also a slower, ten to twelve-hour bus that stops at both Peterborough and Nottingham.
Each day, nine buses journey between Norwich and Leeds, the first in the very early morning before rush hour and the last in the mid-evening. Most of the services are before lunch or from teatime onwards. It's much the same on Saturdays, while on Sunday the daily schedule shortens by about an hour at either end.
Departure bus station: Norwich bus station is right in the city center with entrances on Surrey Street and Queen's Road. John Lewis, Levi's, Marks and Spencer, intu Chapelfield Shopping Centre and Zara are all within a half-mile radius. The Theatre Royal, Norwich Castle and other attractions are also within easy walking distance. The station is served by five different bus and bus operators, offering a range of local and intercity services.
Arrival bus station: National Express passengers generally arrive at the northern end of Leeds bus and bus station on Dyer Street. This large travel hub has shops selling coffee, snacks, newspapers and magazines, and has places for travellers to recharge their smartphones. The Leeds Markets are accessible through the western exits, and across the A61 is the Leeds Playhouse. All local buses and intercity buses terminate at the station, so this is a convenient place to travel onward, either within Leeds or beyond.
