Calpe and Altea are two sides of the same ocean. They are beach towns in Spain and only about 15min from each other. Calpe is a small town known for its beaches with a population of around 30,000 people. Altea is not far from Calpe and also has a population of about 22,000 people. There is high demand between the two towns, and although there are not that many buses, they are usually full. There are only three to four buses offered per day but they are spread apart so regardless of the time you need to make a trip, you will most likely find a bus. From Calpe to Altea, you will find about 21 to 25 buses weekly. Alsa is one of the largest companies in Spain which serve buses locally and also nationally. You do not have the option of choosing an indirect or a direct bus because only one of that type is offered.
The journey by bus from Calpe to Altea is not long at all. Both are coastal cities and both are only about 7 miles (11.2 km) from each other. This means, that you can reach Altea from Calpe in about 15min to 20min. There is high demand for this bus, so Alsa offers timings throughout the day to satisfy this demand. There will be no transfers and you will have a direct bus each and every time.
On a daily basis, you will find around three or four buses from Calpe to Altea. Three on normal days and sometimes on Sundays, Alsa will offer four buses. The buses vary in timing, usually with a span of about four hours between each bus. The earliest bus leaves at about 10:50 a.m., then the next one is at around 1:45 p.m., the next at approximately 5:45 p.m. and finally, the last one is at about 9:35 p.m. . Arrival bus station: Altea has a bus station, as well, and it is also a similar-sized bus station only servicing a few hundred people daily. The bus station in Altea is called Altea, Carretera Nacional 332. It is 30min from the city center and can be reached by rail on Light Rail L9. It is about a 40min walk from Olla de Altea. At this bus station, you will be provided public restrooms, Wi-Fi, and food that you may eat while waiting.
The only bus company that travels from Calpe to Altea is Alsa. It is a local bus but it provides all the necessary amenities that any other company would offer. It offers three to four buses per day and they always leave at around the same time. You will not have an option for a transfer so be prepared to take a direct bus all the way to Altea.
Alsa is one of the largest bus companies in Spain which provides local and national level transport for its customers. The demand for the Calpe to Altea bus route is high and Alsa satisfies this by providing many buses that passengers can take throughout the day. During the summer, and because Calpe and Altea are both beach towns, there is an even higher demand. Due to this increase in demand, Alsa may offer four buses a day on some days to quell the passengers' need to travel. During the holiday season, the slowdown during Christmas and New Years may lower the bus frequency. However, tickets can’t be changed or refunded less than two hours before the departure time.
Although the journey is only 15min to 20min you may come to enjoy some of the available amenities on this bus. Some of the entertainment onboard are Alsa Radio and Audiovisual Entertainment. You will be able to keep your belongings on board the bus, but for larger suitcases and the like, they will be stored below the passenger seats. Please keep what you need with you next to you and your remaining luggage under the bus. As for pets, you are allowed pets up to a certain size, and you will need to keep them in the carrying case. You will have Wi-Fi available onboard but you will need to access the Wi-Fi through their service which means signing in and accepting the terms of their agreement. Finally, if you have a disability, you will be happily catered to on the bus. Please notify Alsa beforehand and an employee will be happy to assist you in anything that you may need. There are disability seating at the front of the bus for those with limited mobility so you may use that if needed, as well.
