Booking tickets for Milan-Paris with just one click

Omio is delighted to make available the new service offered by the Italian railway transport company which allows travelers to reach the French capital in less than 7 hours. The maiden voyage departed at 6.25am on Saturday 18th December from Milano Centrale, bound for Paris Gare de Lyon. To promote the new route, a special price has been established for tickets, which can be purchased on the Omio website and app starting from 29 euros (The promotional price is valid for the standard class; refers to today’s date and is subject to changes and availability).

“We are excited to announce that the new Paris-Milan route operated by Trenitalia has been immediately made available on Omio, ensuring all travellers are able book their train journey between these two great cities quickly and immediately, without having to be redirected to third party sites. It’s exciting to see national operators branching out into new markets, and we are excited to help provide a range of transportation options for travellers by helping them to find the one that best suits their needs,” said Chris Hall, VP of Commercial at Omio. “Trenitalia is one of Omio’s esteemed partners, and we have been collaborating since 2012 with the aim of providing both Italian, European and international travellers new, innovative services that allow them to get between destinations easily and quickly.”

More in the details, Omio users can book one of the four daily round trips from Milano Centrale to Paris Gare de Lyon, stopping in Turin, Modane, Chambéry and Lyon Part Dieu, one in the morning and one in the evening.

Sustainability vs speed: towards the future of transport in Europe

Choosing to travel by train means taking a step forward to adopt a greener approach: according to a recent survey by Omio, more than half Italians are willing to agree to a compromise to protect the planet when they travel, giving up their time for the Earth: 51% of respondents would accept up to 30 minutes of extra travel if this had a positive impact on the environment, while 50% said they would prefer train over plane if the connection is more convenient and 49% to prefer to travel with ground transportation if the price of the ticket is cheaper than that of the plane. Beyond comfort and savings, the decisive impact on consumer choices is marked by the environmental issue, and therefore by the awareness of the data relating to carbon dioxide emissions in the air. In particular, the Milan-Paris train section is the greenest in Europe: the train produces 19.8 kg of CO2 compared to 158 kg for the plane, for a total of 138.2 kg of CO2 saved (According to Omio data released in 2019. “In the last two years, consumer behavior has changed and an increasing attention to the environment is evident, even when travelling” added Hall, who concludes “the new connection represents an appealing option in this sense, as well as a point of turning point for the transport industry in Europe, whose future will be increasingly determined by cross-border train travel, which, in addition to representing the most sustainable solution, will become increasingly faster and therefore competitive compared to the plane.”
